Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams conceive original ideas for new products, introduce them into practice. They are responsible for product development, and qualification from market definition through production and release; assist in the qualification of suppliers for new products to ensure suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services for new or improved manufacturing processes; conduct feasibility studies, testing on new and modified designs; direct and support detailed design, testing, prototype fabrication and manufacturing ramp. The R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams provide all required product documentation including, but not limited to, Solid Model, 2D/3D production drawings, product specifications, and testing requirements. They create and modify detailed drawings and drafting or conceptual models from layouts, rough sketches or notes and contribute to design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operation or quality of product. Typical fields of expertise include: materials, mechanics and systems, electrical, optics, chemistry, software, automation systems, packaging, testing and measurement, and manufacturing of electrical, mechanical and electronic components, products, and their integration into systems.

 

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to join our team as a High Voltage Test Engineer in an ISO 17025 accredited High Voltage test laboratory. This pivotal role involves overseeing the technical operations of the lab equipment. The successful candidate will have a deep technical understanding of high voltage testing equipment. This knowledge will allow them to be responsible for the trouble shooting, improvement, operation, and maintenance of the testing equipment. 

 

Primary Duties:
•    High Voltage test equipment including: high voltage AC / DC (100kV+), Voltage Impulse Testing (BIL), Series Resonant AC test systems, Partial Discharge measurements and noise filtering, Tracking and erosion wheels, etc.
•    Mechanical testing such as Cantilever, Tension, and Torsion testing etc. 
•    High current testing such as Current impulse (40kA+), Load cycling, resistance stability, etc. 
•    Reading and interpreting standards such as IEEE, ANSI, ICEA, UL and more. 
•    Using tools such as Lockout Tagout, Interlocks, and safety analysis to ensure a safe working environment.
•    Ability to apply continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean Six-Sigma to drive lab modernization, implement automated data collection and storage, and automated test report generation. 
•    Support of calibration and audits of the laboratory
 

What your background should look like:

•    Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Physics, or a related field with 3+ year’s professional experience; those with no degree but with equivalent experience will also be considered
•    Experience in a lab setting and familiarity with equipment like oscilloscopes and power supplies
•    Strong technical writing and oral communication skills
•    Intermediate to Advanced proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office
•    Experience in Metrology a plus.

COMPENSATION
•    Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $84,640 – $126,960 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
•    Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
•    Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
