Job Overview

The Global Product Manager – Connectors & Fittings manages all aspects of the global product line, from driving new product development to manufacturing to marketing and sales.  Runs the portfolio as a “mini” GM.  Responsible for overall product strategy, business leadership and capacity plans to meet sales and gross margin targets.   Defines build, borrow, buy strategy for product line gaps.  Manages a group of Regional Product Managers in AMS, EMEA and APAC regions.

 

POSITION SUMMARY: 

Market Sensing and Strategy (30% of time)

- Articulate market trends, demand drivers, customer needs, industry trends, and competitive landscape

- Define and own the execution of the global product portfolio strategy (build/borrow/buy) aligned with BU and market goals

- Define and govern the global strategic pricing framework to ensure alignment with value proposition, margin targets, and competitive positioning

- Identify market trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape to shape product roadmaps and initiate plans to grow above market

- Build professional business plans and present (pitch) to Sr. Leadership team

- Align with Marketing on value proposition and go-to-market approach

- Work with R&D and operations to develop new products that meet customer requirements. 

- Manage the product lifecycle including NPI execution and pruning

- Align on growth opportunities and support M&A efforts and industry partnership initiatives with strategy M&A and Application Focus Group (AFG) teams

 

Develop Business Plan (10% of time):

-Achieve cross-functional alignment to the plan

- Define resource requirements necessary to execute the product roadmap

-Work cross functionally to define sales, technology and operations strategies and goals, in line with financial goals.  Build consensus on completing NPI projects with cross-functional teams

- Establish strategic pricing policy 

New Product Developments and Launches (25%):

- Own the (PMT) Portfolio Management Team process

- Drive product ideation and innovation, supported by VoC, to fuel the NPI funnel

- Plan product launches, including the development of marketing and sales plans.

- Own the P&L of the NPI project from start to finish

- Provide demand forecast inputs to SIOP team 

- Attend customer meetings in support of winning new business

- Exercise thought leadership with other functions   

- Provide inputs to Marcom for the development of collateral, including e-commerce.  

 

Execution of Post Product Launches (20%):

- Ensure revenue and gross margin success through pricing, mix, and productivity

- Monitor product line performance (e.g., revenue, gross margin, market share)

- Consider and drive corrective actions to drive gross margin/cash flow improvements

- Elevate urgent product line issues & hold respective functions accountable to resolve

- Manage special pricing requests  

- Be the champion for resolution of product issues (e.g., quality, delivery, etc.)  

- Provide accurate forecasts for the SIOP team on upcoming sales

- Own quarterly “Product Reviews” as part of SIOP and improve Forecast Accuracy

- Lead product data completeness (PDC) for area of product responsibility in collaboration with Marketing team to drive improved digital customer experience

 

Talent Management (15%):

-Manage and develop a team of product managers

- Develop succession plans for all levels of the C&F product management team

- Develop the PM team to be the leaders of tomorrow

What your background should look like:

-4-year degree in technical or business discipline required

-Advanced degree (MBA) or relevant P&L management experience, preferred

-13+ years' experience, including 5+ years of product management or sales experience

-Relevant product or industry experience in solar desired

-Experience leading a team of 2-3 direct reports

COMPENSATION
•    Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $163,800 - $245,700 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
•    Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
•    Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
