Electrical Engineer - Solar

Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Account Management Teams are responsible for selling TE's products, systems or services, providing detailed technical product information and maintaining relationships with customers in assigned geographic territory, industry or accounts.


TE Connectivity's Electrical Engineer will join the dynamic and fast-growing renewables team within the Energy business unit.  This individual will bring creativity and knowledge of engineering principles of which will be used to work on new and existing project proposals. The person will work on solar PV & BESS electrical design, field construction and installation means & methods development & optimization, Design of DC, MV and communication collection systems, cable trench, U/G duct bank, A/G raceways.



  • Responsible for developing preliminary design concepts based on engineering principles for solar PV system design for RFPs. Provide necessary support and documentation to Estimating, Business Development & Proposal team
  • Work with CAD designers to guide through well designed solar PV site layouts, single line diagrams and other design drawings and detail
  • Determine best layout of DC collection system; including wiring architecture based on all chosen factors such as tracker system, panel type and wattage, inverter selection underground/overhead and all other electrical characteristics, and other owner-imposed requirement.
  • Design solar PV systems with expertise in AutoCad
  • Manage and lead the electrical engineering design and equipment procurement through use of submittals, transmittals, and requests for information 
  • Verify that construction is in agreement with electrical engineering design drawings, including preparatory meetings, and QA/QC 
  • Provide technical expertise to all parties concerned 
  • Ensure internal and external stakeholders understand the scope of project during bidding process and provide electrical engineering resource throughout the project 
  • Perform voltage drop/loss calculations (100% output/annualized) 
  • Develop one-line diagrams of collection system, as well as standard details of electrical construction 

What your background should look like:



  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering 
  • Minimum 2-3 years in SOLAR electrical construction management or electrical design 
  • Understanding of Microsoft Office, project and solar specific software (PVsystem, SAM, Plant Predict, etc.) and pertinent web application skills at an intermediate level 
  • Detail orientation sufficient to organize and manage multiple project tasks 
  • Possess basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practices 
  • Proven positive and professional attitude, and strong customer service skills 
  • Working knowledge of NEC code and NE safety code a plus 
  • Basic understanding of construction techniques and project management practices
