Wire and Cable (WNC) and Engineered Polymer Solutions (EPS) are part of the Aerospace Defense and Marine business (AD&M) within TE’s industrial business segment, supplying customers with electronic components that include ruggedized electronic interconnect solutions.

The WNC & EPS Development Engineering team is looking for a motivated Process Development Technician to work in our business. TE Connectivity’s WNC & EPS Development Engineering Team manages a wide variety of Wire and Cable products, Elastomer Heat Shrink Tubing, Molded Parts, Interconnect Devices, and Databus Couplers and Connectors. The Process Technician will support the development of processes (Compounding, extrusion, beaming, expansion) for new materials to be used on future Aerospace products.

This position requires access to information which is subject to stringent controls under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or Export Administration Regulations (EAR).  U.S. citizen or national, U.S. lawful permanent resident, person granted asylee status in the U.S., or person admitted into the U.S. as a refugee status is required.

As the Process Development Technician your main responsibilities will involve:

Responsibilities:

  • Knowledge of the extrusion process and the hand’s on operation of an extruder.
  • Knowledge of and ability to run foamed dielectric materials is a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of downstream WNC manufacturing processes ( Beams, PID cabling, braiding, spooling )
  • Collect data from development trials and provide documentation of the trials.
  • Collaborate with other lab technicians on interdisciplinary teams to plan out development trials.
  • Work with Development and Product engineers to determine strategies to meet present and future project requirements.
  • Support Process Development trials; compounding of new resins, extrusion, beaming and expansion of new compounds.
  • Ensure all safety requirements are met.
  • Participate and/or lead employee continuous improvement teams as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
  • Desire to learn testing methods in support of products in the development phase.

  • 2-Year College degree on related field is desirable. Or equivalent work experience.
  • Ability to communicate and listen in cross-functional teams to accelerate the product development and VAVE projects
  • Be able read and understand mechanical/technical drawings and be able to interpret technical specifications
  • Knowledge of and ability to follow standard laboratory and manufacturing health and safety procedures.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Capable of working under limited supervision - will take ownership and accountability for project tasks.
  • Knowledge of Mil-Aero and Space products/materials preferred.
  • Green Belt in Six Sigma preferred. If not, must be willing to pursue.

COMPENSATION
•    Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $71,000 - $106,600 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
•    Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
•    Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
