Job Overview

TE Connectivity is adding to our R&D/Product Development Engineering Team in Fremont, CA!   


These teams conceive original ideas for new MEMS products, introduce them into practice. They are responsible for designing the next generation of MEMS sensors for medical, industrial, automotive and consumer applications. He/she works closely with internal and external customers for product definition, performs process and design simulations and arrives at optimal and competitive solutions. He/she is a technical leader, with deep understanding of MEMS wafer processing, MEMS design and packaging tradeoffs, and customer applications. He/she can lead complex projects from concept through development, qualification and volume production. He/she further contributes to the long-term roadmaps for new MEMS products, wafer fab processing, assembly, test and ASIC definitions.

Job Responsibilities

  • Coordinate activities of Design, Applications, Marketing, Test and Quality engineering groups to bring new MEMS pressure sensors products to market; Define development costs and schedules; Bench characterize and evaluation of new products; Yield improvement and cost reduction activities; Support manufacturing needs and customer requests; Increase test and assembly manufacturing capacity.
  • Work with design, fab and assembly team members to manage a New Product Introduction through qualification flow; Be responsible for transferring new product to production; Be responsible for developing the product Characterization Plan and coordinating test and analysis of Characterization Test results; Be responsible for developing and executing Qualification Test Plan (Package Qual, Burn-in, ESD); Be responsible for cost reduction efforts including Test Time reductions, Test Flow Optimization and Yield improvemen
  • Support of existing products, failure analysis.
  • Develop new product designs or adapt and reconfigure existing product as product family extensions for use in new applications, as part of a cross-functional team in accordance with the corporate product development process.    
  • Develop the next generation of digital products relying on standard digital protocols as I2C,SPI, Bluetooth where interfacing with micro-controllers and embedded software is required.  
  • Develop and execute relevant product validation test plans in close consultation with the engineering team and central test lab personnel.
  • Communicate product performance requirements effectively, using production drawings, application and performance specifications.
  • Actively participate in product launch team meetings and provide engineering support to ensure smooth launch and transition of products into the production plant.
  • Provide electrical support to the engineering and production departments as directed.
  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize issues, problem solve and make intelligent, timely decisions independently.


What your background should look like:

  • M.S. or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, MEMS and Nanotechnology, or similar degree is required.
  • 5+ years experience with MEMS design and product development is required.
  • Work experience in semiconductor/MEMS wafer fab.
  • Self-starter, self-motivator with the ability to work effectively in an international and diverse team environment with effective communication and presentation skills.
