Job Overview
• Responsible for Design and Development of Die tooling and Processes to support new product development.
• Own DFM, PFMEA to optimize product design, process design and tooling design, Realizes sample tooling and product samples. Determines the most suitable manufacturing concepts related to planned manufacturing quantities, quality requirements and manufacturing location.
• Ensure Dies and processes are designed to be capable of producing good quality products efficiently and effectively at the lowest possible cost.
• Ensure projects are completed in a timely manner and properly transferred to manufacturing upon First Article approval complete with documentation.
• Provide cost estimations for new mold tooling and processes.
• Work within a cross-functional team consisting of various process experts.
• Integrate feedback and lessons learned into new molds and molding processes.
• Collaborate with global experts to update and continuously improve operational standards with regard to Stamping process.
• Study or introduce new technologies into process designs to maximize yield and efficiency.
Job Requirements
- JOB DUTIES
• Establish DFM, PFMEA, Mold spec, Mold Design, Molding process and Conditioning Standards and Rules, and conduct tool design.
• Manage projects to ensure timely debugging of new molds and processes to meet first article qualification target so as to facilitate new program start up.
• Provide technical advice to enhance future product design through mold engineering evaluation. Conduct evaluations for DFM (design for manufacturability).
• Conduct die tooling design review with the Engineering, Operation and Quality engineering.
• Utilize analysis software applications and 53P to enhance stamping process accuracy (5-step process, Mold-flow analysis, pressure loss, etc.).
• Approval of First Article inspections and process capability. Ensure approval through close follow-up on mold debugging, conditioning, and modification.
• Liaise with the quality assurance division to maintain a high standard of quality product from newly developed tool.
• Maintain a proper system and documentation in line with the tooling development requirements, under DND MPDE Execution Matrix.
• Work within a cross functional team and participate in LEAN Product Development.
• Travel to suppliers/plants in order to support development/fine-tuning and or project release.
• Study or Introduce new technologies into process designs to maximize yield and efficiency.
• Champion flexible manufacturing and integrate flexible platforms into designs.
• Attend regional trade shows and continuously benchmark against industry best practices.
What your background should look like
• Degree or Diploma in mechanical / production engineering.
• More than 5 years Mold design, Process and Troubleshooting knowledge / experience.
• Strong knowledge of tool fabrication, tool-steel application/selection, heat treating, and plating/coating.
• Strong knowledge of high precision stamping processes .
• Understand tolerance calculations and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
• Good project management skill – Ability to work on several projects at once.
• Effective prepare and present technical knowledge within a group setting.
• Willingness to travel (25% travel).
• Ability to effectively communicate in English – Written and Spoken.
