The Customer Process Field Engineer serves as a critical technical liaison between TE Connectivity and its customers, ensuring successful integration of TE’s interconnect products into customer PCB and electronics manufacturing environments. This role combines manufacturing engineering, process optimization, and customer-facing support, with a strong emphasis on PCB assembly processes, SMT, and production readiness.

 

Job Requirements

Key Responsibilities
•    Develop deep expertise in how TE products are integrated within customer PCB manufacturing processes, including SMT and assembly workflows
•    Partner with customers and internal engineering teams to ensure alignment on application requirements, manufacturability, and process integration
•    Lead Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) discussions related to PCB applications and interconnect solutions
•    Support New Product Introduction (NPI) by conducting application and process readiness reviews, including formal sign-off between TE and customers
•    Collaborate with TE product and design engineering teams to incorporate real-world PCB process parameters into product specifications
•    Participate in and lead joint design and process reviews to ensure products meet manufacturing capability and performance requirements
•    Create and maintain application specifications, process documentation, and training materials to support both internal teams and customers
•    Provide technical guidance on PCB assembly processes, including: 
o    Surface Mount Technology (SMT)
o    Pick-and-place operations
o    Reflow soldering profiles
o    PCB handling and processing considerations
•    Support and align test methodologies between TE and customers, ensuring consistency with PCB validation and reliability standards
•    Provide onsite customer support during NPI phases and production ramp, troubleshooting process issues and ensuring smooth integration
•    Drive root cause analysis and continuous improvement efforts for manufacturing and field issues
•    Act as a voice of the customer to improve product design, usability, and manufacturability

What your background should look like

•    Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field 
o    5+ years of experience, or
o    Master’s degree with 3+ years of relevant experience
•    Strong experience in PCB manufacturing and assembly processes
•    Hands-on knowledge of: 
o    Surface Mount Technology (SMT)
o    Pick-and-place equipment and programming basics
o    PCB processing and handling
•    Experience supporting customer manufacturing environments, including onsite engagement
•    Proven ability in problem-solving, root cause analysis, and process troubleshooting
•    Experience working cross-functionally with design, quality, and manufacturing teams
•    Strong customer-facing and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications
•    Experience with cables, harnesses, and interconnect systems in PCB environments
•    Familiarity with IPC standards and electronics manufacturing best practices
•    Experience leading or participating in design reviews, tolerance analysis, and DFM/DFA activities
•    Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing experience (preferred)
•    Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred
•    Experience working in high-volume electronics or automotive manufacturing environments

•    Location: Remote - but must be located in El Paso, TX
•    Travel: Must be willing and able to travel domestically and internationally as required to support customer sites and product launches

COMPENSATION
•    Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $69,100 – $103,600 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
•    Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
•    Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
