Master Scheduler
Job Overview
The Master Scheduler is responsible for owning and maintaining the Master Production Schedule (MPS) at the finished goods level across the tactical horizon of 4 weeks to full product lead time. This role translates demand and supply plans into a feasible schedule that balances customer commitments, material availability, and plant capacity. By stabilizing the production load and providing a clear, executable plan, the Master Scheduler enables reliable order confirmation and on-time delivery. The role works cross-functionally with supply chain, production, engineering, and customer service to ensure schedule stability and operational excellence.
Job Requirements
- Own and maintain the Master Production Schedule (MPS) at the finished goods level
- Translate demand and supply plans into a feasible finished goods schedule that balances customer commitments, inventory targets, material availability, and plant capacity.
- Confirm and communicate customer order dates based on the MPS.
- Monitor finished goods schedule adherence and stability, identifying risks and driving corrective actions.
- Collaborate with Supply Planners, Production, Procurement, and Customer Service to balance competing priorities.
- Monitor and report key scheduling metrics, such as on-time delivery, schedule adherence, and inventory levels.
- Work closely with supply chain and operations leadership to mitigate risks related to material shortages, production bottlenecks, and unforeseen demand fluctuations.
- Utilize the SAP ERP system to manage and communicate scheduling updates effectively.
- Provide inputs into SIOP (Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning) meetings, representing the plant’s ability to meet customer commitments at the finished good level.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance scheduling accuracy, drive lead time accuracy, and improve service levels.
What your background should look like
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in production planning, scheduling, or supply chain management, preferably in Aerospace, Defense, or industrial manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of the SAP ERP system for planning and scheduling.
- Experience with lean manufacturing principles and SIOP processes.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and communicate effectively with teams at all levels.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- APICS/CPIM certification is a plus.
