The Supplier Development Engineer (SDE) role is a new position within AD&M to focus on the supplier readiness prior to launching serial production.  Additionally, the position ensures supplying TE systems, processes and build capabilities to meet the design intent of the customer and are compliant with the end customer’s needs. This includes initial supply chain company verification. Today AD&M has over 2500 global supplier and one of our key initiatives is to consolidate the number of suppliers via the transfer of non-strategic (exit) suppliers to internal and strategic suppliers.  It is vital that our new sources of production are prepared for acceptance of the production responsibilities to ensure quality expectations are delivered to our customers.  We believe this is a key element to support the Extraordinary Customer Experience!

Responsibilities & Qualifications

As a Supplier Development Engineer (f/m), your responsibilities would include but are not limited to the following:

  • Act as an interface between supply base and internal customer to provide project support for issues related to supplier performance.
  • Maintain accurate reporting and communication for supplier capabilities, capacity and performance information for improving supplier selection process.
  • Participate/Support supplier development efforts based on technical deficiencies or areas of weak performance. This can include: developing a corrective action plan to address non-compliant issues, working with TE portal support, TE procedure and processes.
  • Participate in the development and deployment of multi-year strategies for tooling that are aligned with the stamping and casting strategies
  • Identify and implement cost savings projects related to the molding commodity
  • Learn, promote and provide instruction on established processes, standard works and best demonstrated practices developed to support the stamping and casting supply base.
  • Support supplier identification on new product introduction (NPI) as required
  • Extend the TE Operational Advantage (TEOA) into the supply base to generate continuous improvement deli erring incremental improvements through the supplier development lead projects.

 

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field
  • Several years’ experience with focus on stamping processes is necessary
  • Technical background or experience working with high/complex technical products/components
  • Commercial or procurement experience (contract management, negotiation skills, supply chain processes, etc.) will be recommended
  • Several years’ experience in Quality and robust quality system knowledge is nice to have
  • Strong background in Lean practices will be highly appreciated
  • Willingness to travel (25-50% approx.)
  • Fluent in French and English (reading, writing, and speaking)
  • Motivated and energetic individual with the ability to learn quickly and work in a self-directed work environment with minimal supervision
  • Optimistic and positive attitude
  • Ability to think strategically and execute tactically to deliver results
  • Analytically minded and data-driven to have a holistic overview of complex situations
  • A clear communicator who can speak and present confidently to a diverse audience, including senior management
