Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Trade Compliance Teams interpret laws, rules, and regulations regarding shipping and prepare applications for import/export control certifications and licenses.

The France Trade Compliance Manager is responsible for maintaining a world-class trade compliance program throughout the locations in France, (Evreux, Toulouse & LeMans) and to coordinate with other TE Aerospace Defence & Marine Business (AD&M) Units in the EMEA region. This role will focus on ensuring that TE business is transacted in compliance with all applicable import and export regulations and procedures, and internal processes developed by TE Trade Compliance Department.

This position requires an energetic, take-charge person with a strong background in customs, export compliance, and controlled product export licensing (i.e. DGA). It requires leadership to drive process improvements in key risk areas, provide oversight and technical guidance to the business unit leaders and implement processes using the operating systems available by the organization. The position is also responsible for taking a proactive role in seeking appropriate cost-savings strategies (e.g., utilizing free-trade agreements, coordinating classification rulings, automation of routine trade compliance administrative activities). This position will develop local Trade Compliance Officers at the other France locations and interface with other AD&M Compliance Officers, customs brokers, freight forwarders, business and corporate management, internal/external legal counsel, customers, suppliers, and Government Regulatory agencies in the region.


 Develop, implement and lead strategic planning for the TE trade compliance program within France.

 Oversee and advise on the development and maintenance of trade compliance processes, documentation, records and reference materials for individual plant operations.

 Manage and resolve trade compliance issues within France implement corrective actions as required.

 Assist regional operations to implement required trade compliance programs, including the provision of training and documentation of processes and procedures.

 Develop and deliver Compliance Training to targeted audiences involved in international transactions to support corporate compliance policies and initiatives.

 Communicate and distribute specific trade compliance policies and procedures across all businesses in accordance with TE corporate policy on international trade.

 Represents the organization with relevant government agencies as needed in order to maintain ongoing relations, respond to government inquiries, and address issues that are above and beyond day-to-day transactional issues/questions.

 Monitor and oversee trade compliance programs. Conduct trade compliance risk assessments for business operations throughout France; perform on-site compliance program reviews; and coordinate with corporate internal audit staff as required.

 Provide guidance and assistance to business unit management and business unit ITCOs in France regarding the interpretation of relevant regulations, including applicable trade preference programs, and the integration of regulatory requirements into business plans and processes.

 Support AD&M Merger, Acquisitions, and Divestiture activities and participate in trade compliance due diligence activities as required.

 All activities as assigned by the AD&M Manager of Trade Compliance



What your background should look like:


Experience / Qualifications:

  • Minimum experience of 5 years in trade and/or trade compliance related positions Experience managing trade compliance business operations, and export licensing in accordance with the import and export regulations of France, and other global trade compliance regulations

 Experience in the implementing cross-functional processes, and experience working in a matrix reporting structure.

 Experience in mapping and documenting processes.

 Well-developed organizational, priority management, and planning skills.

 Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills enabling professional communication to people at all levels of the organization

 Able to operate effectively within a team environment and build consensus among groups.

 Proven problem solving and decision making skills.

 Basic computer literacy and knowledge of Software such as Word, Excel, Spreadsheets, PowerPoint and Visio

 Degree in International Trade, Business Administration or Law.

 Ongoing training in import and export regulations.

 Fluent in French and English both written & verbal
