Job Overview
The Senior Accountant for Costa Rica Local Statutory processes is responsible for providing end‑to‑end financial, statutory, and operational accounting support within the TE Connectivity Financial Shared Service Center environment. This position acts as a subject matter expert for Costa Rica statutory and non-statutory accounting, supports month‑end close activities, ensures compliance with US GAAP and local regulations, and collaborates with auditors, tax advisors, and cross‑functional teams. The role also functions as a deputy to the team leader and provides guidance to junior R2R analysts.

Job Requirements
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES& TASKS
- Perform general ledger activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, reserves, and inventory reconciliations.
- Ensure accurate and timely month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close in alignment with the established calendar.
- Execute fixed assets accounting, cash management tasks, and financial reporting activities.
- Prepare statutory financial reports and support regional reporting requirements.
- Guarantee accuracy, completeness, and compliance of financial statements with US GAAP and Costa Rica local accounting standards.
- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Costa Rica statutory and R2R-related processes.
- Support the implementation of new statutory and non‑statutory processes within scope.
- Prepare and maintain process maps, work instructions, and standard operating procedures (DTPs).
- Mentor and guide junior team members, act as senior support during peak workload periods.
- Liaise with internal and external auditors, ensuring timely delivery of audit schedules, documentation, and responses.
- Maintain strong internal controls and ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and regulatory frameworks.
- Support tax advisors with statutory and compliance‑related data and reports.
- Identify opportunities for process simplification, standardization, and automation within the R2R and statutory processes.
- Contribute to performance monitoring through data extraction, KPIs, and SLA reporting.
- Build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders, including finance, controllers, tax teams, and operations.

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required; CPA preferred.
- 4+ years of experience in a Costa Rican companies / statutory accounting.
- Experience in general accounting, statutory processes, financial reporting, and accounting consolidations.
- Prior audit exposure or experience working with auditors is desirable.
- Proficiency in excel.
Updated knowledge in:
- Code of Tax Rules and Procedures (CNPT) and Law 9635 and tax reform
- IFRS/NIIF
- Transfer Pricing
Experience with Free Trade Zone companies:
- Accounting management of exempt goods
- Differentiated records for exempt vs. non‑exempt operations
- Inventory control under tax incentive regimes.
Reports to authorities such as:
- PROCOMER
- Ministry of Finance
- Customs (when applicable, regarding exempt fixed assets and customs movements)
Tax filings:
- VAT
- Income Tax
- D-151, D-152 reports, certifications, and annexes
