Drafter / CNC Programmer (2+ Years Experience)
Position Summary
TE Connectivity – Marine, Oil & Gas (MOG) Business Unit is seeking a Drafter with hands-on CNC programming exposure to support machining-focused product development and production.
This role bridges engineering design and manufacturing execution. The position is responsible for creating high-quality 3D models and manufacturing drawings while supporting CNC programming activities in Mastercam or Esprit to ensure efficient, producible designs.

Job Requirements
Drafting & Design Support
- Create and revise 3D models and detailed manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks
- Apply GD&T per ASME Y14.5
- Develop machining-ready drawings (tight tolerances, surface finishes, thread callouts)
- Maintain revision control and documentation in PLM/ERP systems
- Support engineering change implementation (ECOs)
CNC Programming Support
- Create and modify CNC programs using Esprit and/or Mastercam.
- Generate toolpaths for milled and turned components
- Assist with fixture modeling and setup validation
- Collaborate with machinists to optimize cycle time and manufacturability
- Support prove-outs and first article builds
- Troubleshoot machining issues related to design or toolpath
Manufacturing Collaboration
- Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering on DFM improvements
- Review prints for machinability and tolerance stack-up risks
- Support cost-reduction initiatives through design simplification
- Assist with tooling documentation and process sheets
What your background should look like
- Associate’s degree or Technical Certification in Drafting, Manufacturing Technology, or related field
- Minimum 2 years drafting experience in a manufacturing environment
- Proficiency in SolidWorks (parts, assemblies, drawings)
- Working knowledge of Mastercam and/or Esprit (toolpath generation, post processing)
- Understanding of:
- CNC milling and turning
- Tooling selection fundamentals
- GD&T (ASME Y14.5)
- Machining tolerances and surface finish standards
- Ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings

Preferred Qualificiations
- Experience in aerospace, defense, marine, oil & gas, or precision machining environments
- Exposure to 4-axis / 5-axis machining
- Experience supporting prototype-to-production transitions
- Familiarity with ITAR-controlled products
- Basic knowledge of:
- Cutting parameters (feeds/speeds)
- Fixture design
- CAM simulation validation

COMPENSATION
• Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $83,500 - 93,000 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
• Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
• Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
