Job Overview
The TE Connectivity Industrial Filters Subvertical has an opportunity available for a Lab Manager/Test Engineer/EHS Coordinator in our Edison, New Jersey office. The Filters Subvertical provides Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Filters and Power Quality solutions to customers in the Industrial Automation and Electrification market space.
The Lab Manager/Test Engineer will apply managerial skills and the knowledge of Safety and Lab Procedures to ensure Safe operation of the Edison site including the office and Lab spaces. Managerial duties include the creation of Standard Work Instructions, maintaining equipment calibration, scheduling testing activities, reordering equipment and supplies and maintaining testing standards. Implements the organization's health and safety policies and procedures to meet organizational objectives and governmental regulations. Monitors, supervises the execution of existing EHS practices, technologies and facilities; and manages implementation of EHS-related changes.
The ideal candidate will possess considerable knowledge of Electromechanical Test Engineering principles, practices, and procedures, including understanding of commercial and military test standards. The role will involve working with Safety Agencies, Development Engineering, Sales, Product Management, Project Management, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Quality, and outside vendors to ensure smooth release and maintenance of parts.
This role will report directly to the Engineering Lead in our Edison, USA location and will be responsible for collaborating with other functions within the Organization, particularly with Sales and Product Management.
Key Responsibilities:
• Work with multi-functional project teams consisting of Sales, Product Management, Project Management, Operations, Quality, Global Product Approvals and Outside Vendors.
• Design, development, and execution of test plans to de-risk new product development and product line extensions to ensure compliance with Product Requirements.
• Creation of Standard Work Instructions for Electromechanical Testing
• Participate in Design to Value projects and competitive teardowns to reduce cost and identify opportunities for unique value.
• Evaluate manufacturing deviations and make decisions on deviation acceptance.
• Design, development, and execution of qualification test plans for product migrations.
• Overseeing compliance and routine testing on existing practices; identifying and reporting on areas needing interventions.
• Evaluating potential EHS hazards/ accidents and participating in engineering solutions to improve standards. Communicating to the team about EHS standards, organization practices, labor guidelines; and promoting training and educational programs on EHS issues.
• Investigating reports on EHS emergencies/ accidents and reporting it. Developing and communicating emergency response plans and procedures.
• Coordinating periodic team meetings to discuss, create/ enhance EHS programs, requirements and supporting technologies.
• Sharing information, suggestions, and observations with senior management to create consistency in EHS standards.
• Advising on a range of specialist areas including fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery and occupational diseases.
• Ensuring health and safety guidelines, policies and processes in alignment with all applicable regulations and laws.
• Monitoring organizational training with managers and employees about health and safety issues and risks.
• Supervising, participating in and developing employee training on safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Overseeing coordination of manufacturing and facility permits, infrastructure and process changes, inspections, budget and EHS audits.
• Supporting the design of EHS safety management incentives, redesigning processes, facilities, or product lines, and delivering safety solutions.
This position requires access to information that is subject to stringent controls under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). Applicants must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. lawful permanent residents, persons granted asylee status in the U.S., or persons admitted into the U.S. as a refugee.
What your background should look like:
• Bachelor’s Degree in technical field (Electrical or Mechanical Engineering preferred)
• Experience in RFI/EMI testing is preferred.
• Knowledge in Basic Quality tools
• Knowledge of Environmental Health and Safety preferred.
• Knowledge of statistical analysis tools
• Total Experience in Test Engineering 10+ years
• Experience performing electrical tests including (but not limited to) dielectric withstand voltage, insulation resistance, continuity, voltage drop, temperature rise, change in resistance, leakage current preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong design of experiment skills.
• Ability to challenge technical solutions and processes.
• Ability to work with multicultural teams.
• Adaptability to changing priorities, strategies, and business conditions.
• Experience in working with formal Engineering documentation procedures
• Experienced in Microsoft Office applications.
• Capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously
• Ability to communicate effectively and accurately across multi-cultural groups
• Should be Self-Motivated, Adaptive, Passionate about results and a Good Team Player
• Knowledge of Global Certifications and Regulatory Standards (UL, IEC, etc.) will be an added advantage
• Fluent Communication and Presentation skills in English
• Willingness to travel as required and at short notice
• Knowledge in Basic Quality techniques and statistical analysis tools

COMPENSATION
• Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $117,200– $175,200 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
• Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
• Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
