SENIOR GLOBAL PLATFORM MANAGER

Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s Engineering Managers provide leadership for cross functional engineering teams. They work with senior management to define technical road maps aligned with market directions and communicate across other Business Units to share applicable technology. Our Engineering Managers leverage TE global technology to increase competitive position and increased value to our customers. They identify relevant technology trends and opportunities, develop relationships and partnerships with key customers, industry leaders and core suppliers, define and manage IP strategy, assess talent and implement development plans to assure succession planning and organization capability.

Responsibilities:

Lead a global team of engineers to develop the next generation contactor platform products and technologies 
Own technical concept selection & platform technical design gate approval and has ownership over the platform product RDO (Responsible Design Owner)
Work closely with the regions to define the required development resources
Responsible for the engineering deliverables to the project (DV complete)Technical project leader assigning work packages, drive execution in cooperation with the regional engineering teams
Work closely together with product management and manufacturing engineering, aligning product and portfolio strategy and design to cost and design for manufacturability
Work in a global context and manage the communication/cooperation in a complex organizational matrix structure
Foster a culture of open communication and cooperation and define the optimal organizational structure for the team to drive efficiency and speed
Stay current with state-of-the-art industry developments on the level of platform creation and modularization concepts 
Contribute to the definition of the E-mobility product and technology roadmaps 
 

What your background should look like:

• Master in mechanical, electrical or electromechanical / mechatronics engineering
• Minimum 8 years of experience in Automotive Engineering
• Experience in contactor development 
• Strong technical understanding of vehicle HV safety system architecture, related components, and their interaction (HV battery, fuses, BDU, contactor, etc.)
• Knowledgeable on all technical aspects concerning contactors, including electromagnetic design, electrical arcing, EMI, coil design, electronics, solid state switching and thermal aspects
• Good knowledge on contactor related manufacturing technologies
• Awareness of the xEV vehicle trends and evolution in the market on the level of HV safety, system architecture and E/E architecture in general
• Good understanding on the engineering design process, especially focus on concept/technology selection tools, global requirements management, risk evaluation and validation with a clear goal to achieve project “to cost, to quality and to timing” targets 
• Capable of leading a diverse global team of engineers, providing guidance, seeking consensus, and keeping high interaction and motivation in the team
• Excellent communication skills and reporting skills 
• Affinity with product platform setup and related structure and logic (synergies, degrees of freedom, performance classes, etc.)
