Job Overview

The future employee is responsible for managing procurement activities across assigned product groups, ensuring competitive sourcing and cost-effective purchasing. A key focus of the role is supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) by contributing to project-related sourcing, supplier selection, and cost optimization during new product development and launch phases. Working closely with cross-functional teams, the Buyer acts as a central interface across functions to take part in smooth project execution. The role supports timely delivery of projects, drives efficient sourcing decisions, and helps mitigate risks throughout the product lifecycle. In addition, the position contributes to continuous improvement, supplier development, and long-term cost competitiveness. 

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Support customer quotation during project acquisition phase
  • Participates in regular project meetings with other departments as a core team member for product lines with a high impact and influences proactively the cost structure in a positive way with alternative/potential production methods and suppliers
  • Analyses the market and collects the requirements for the future
  • Technical Project management to drive Tooling and Customer projects from Customer Request until Release at Final Location
  • Accountable for execution of projects according to customer timing
  • Contributes to product design reviews with VA/VE analysis to influence design-to-manufacturing decisions and to propose alternative production methods
  • Drives complex ad hoc queries and works autonomously on assigned projects
  • Coordinates communication of changes between core team, commodities, supply chain, suppliers, engineering, quality and competence centers
  • Coordinates risk assessments, organizes and leads supplier component reviews
  • Responsible for negotiating quotations with a significant impact to meet project targets
  • Discusses offers with engineering and suppliers
  • Responsible to present post RFQs in sourcing meetings and jointly evaluate and select suppliers in the competitive bid process for serial production with procurement and supplier quality, to grow with preferred partners and actively consolidate the current global supply base
  • Responsible for proper handover of projects and tasks to commodity buyers
  • Responsible to coordinate product line–related saving projects within procurement
  • Coaches and guides other team members if senior enough
  • Identifies and drives process improvements and updates or creates the required documentation
  • Initiates quotation requests to internal and external suppliers for project-specific investments, tools, assembly equipment, and purchased parts

Ideal Background

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field (Master's degree or higher equivalent is advantage)
  • Fluent English at negotiation level,  other languages are a plus
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional level experience
  • Prior experience in procurement and/or several years experience in a technical field, e.g.  process engineering, product engineering, tool manufacturing
  • 3+ years experience in automotive industry
  • Openness to travel across EMEA
  • Broad technical understanding of production processes
  • Previous use of SAP and Microsoft Office, i.e. Excel, Outlook, Word, Powerpoint, MS Project
