Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Manufacturing/Production Teams transform raw materials into finished goods and ensure component flow. They perform changeovers and setups according to production schedule, perform quality checks according to established processes and document the results as required by our quality procedures. Every team member is responsible for maintaining housekeeping and organization of the work area as well as following TE Connectivity's EH&S policies and procedures.

COMPENSATION
•    Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $24.88/Hour (subject to change dependent on physical location)
•    Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.

Fiber Optic Technician - Job Description

Reports To – Production Supervisor

Shift - 1st Shift - 6am to 2:30pm / Overtime as Required

Job Summary - Perform on-site duties as required

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform the termination of electrical/fiber optic contacts, connectors and switches using various cable types.
  • Inspect terminated contacts using optical contact inspection equipment. Solder proficiently
  • Mold using industry standard materials/chemicals and molding equipment Perform optical fusion splices proficiently
  • Use test equipment for both electrical and optical systems
  • Work with sandblasting equipment
  • Prepare electrical/fiber optic cables/connectors assemblies per engineering drawings and instructions.
  • Be cognizant of Company’s ISO 9001-2008 QMS Policy and procedures; their relevance and importance in daily activities and strive to continually contribute to the achievement of the quality objectives.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualificaions

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • 1-3 years fiber optic connector termination experience
  • Familiar with theory and principles of fiber optics
  • Able to read, write and speak English
  • Able to read, understand and work from engineering drawings
  • Hand soldering experience preferred
  • Test Insertion Loss (IL) of fiber optic connector experience preferred Familiar with OTDR and fusion splice equipment preferred
  •  Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Must be able and willing to work overtime if required
  • No Travel required

  • Aero Glaze – Pr 1523M – PR 420 – PR 1592 – MEK, isopropyl alcohol, flux, solder core
