Job Overview

The Construction Safety Manager is responsible for leading all Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) activities throughout the construction project lifecycle. This role partners closely with project management teams, contractors, and site leadership to ensure full compliance with legal, corporate, and environmental requirements while fostering a strong safety culture and achieving zero workplace incidents.

The position drives risk assessment, contractor safety management, emergency preparedness, EHS audits, compliance reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives across the construction site.

Job Requirements

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee all construction-related EHS programs and compliance activities.
• Ensure compliance with local regulations, corporate EHS standards, and contractor requirements.
• Conduct risk assessments and identify critical safety, health, and environmental hazards.
• Review and validate EHS plans from project management companies and contractors.
• Drive a proactive safety culture and promote leading safety indicators across the project site.
• Conduct regular EHS inspections, audits, and performance reviews.
• Manage contractor safety performance and work permit compliance.
• Investigate incidents, identify corrective actions, and track closure.
• Ensure emergency response plans and preparedness programs are in place.
• Deliver EHS training to project teams, contractors, and site leaders.
• Support management of change processes related to project design and construction activities.
• Prepare and submit required EHS reports, metrics, and compliance documentation.

What your background should look like

• Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering, Safety Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 8 years of progressive EHS experience, including at least 5 years in a managerial or leadership role within construction, manufacturing, industrial, semiconductor, or large-scale infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of construction safety regulations, contractor management, risk assessment, and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Proven experience managing contractors, leading project safety programs, and ensuring compliance with local and corporate EHS standards.
• Demonstrated capability in conducting EHS audits, site inspections, incident investigations, and implementing corrective actions.
• Hands-on experience with risk assessment, permit-to-work systems, emergency response planning, and EHS management systems.
• Strong leadership and influencing skills with the ability to drive safety culture transformation and achieve zero-incident performance.
• Experience working in multinational organizations and collaborating effectively with project managers, engineering teams, government agencies, contractors, and external stakeholders.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Professional certifications such as Safety Officer, NEBOSH, OSHA, CSP, or equivalent are highly preferred.
