Development Manager Photonics (m/f/d)

Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s Engineering Managers provide leadership for cross functional engineering teams. They work with senior management to define technical road maps aligned with market directions and communicate across other Business Units to share applicable technology. Our Engineering Managers leverage TE global technology to increase competitive position and increased value to our customers. They identify relevant technology trends and opportunities, develop relationships and partnerships with key customers, industry leaders and core suppliers, define and manage IP strategy, assess talent and implement development plans to assure succession planning and organization capability.


What are your core responsibilities?

  • Technical and organizational leadership of a digital imaging development team (software, electronics, mechanics, optics, validation).
  • New product development according to agreed specifications within contracted development objectives (KPIs).
  • Utilize and foster best practice development processes and methodologies (e.g. DFSS, target costing, value engineering).
  • Support of product marketing management by contributing to the product and innovation roadmap and providing a bottom-up technology roadmap. Define team goals based on that.
  • Resource, succession and talent planning with strengthening of core competencies and efficiency of the team and the individual.
  • Ensure close collaboration and coordination with internal interfaces and shared engineering as well as external companies and partners.

What your background should look like:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in physics (optics), electronics, electrical engineering, computer science or other technical discipline.
  • At least 8 years of experience in product development, including 2 years of leadership/supervisory/management experience.
  • Strong experience in the development of innovative products with software content, preferably for photonics solutions
  • Experience in shortening development times
  • Proven ability to effectively organise, prioritise and manage multiple tasks
  • Strong analytical skills with a constant focus on customer and product requirements
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) in German and English
  • Willingness to travel between 10% and 25%
