Job Overview

A technology executive in the vehicle electrification field who leads the technology to enhance products and services and to meet business financial, commercial and quality goals. The candidate will have a deep knowledge in the xEV markets, industry, customers, new technologies and their future trends in the vehicle systems architectures and key powertrain components.

The candidate can translate multi-dimensional requirements from the market and customers into a high level product requirement set for the engineering team to innovate the future generation of the platform products. The preferred expertise are in the batteries, contactors, charging systems and power electronics.The candidate is also the key bridge person from the product management team’s business objectives and product strategies to the engineering development team by helping set product market pricing guidelines and product cost targets. 

The candidate is highly engaged with the patent officer to review Electrification patent and trademark filing and is one of the key members to determine and approve patents, trademarks and marketing materials for the Electrification products.

The director reports directly to the VP, Automotive HEMS (Hybrid & Electric Mobility Solutions) Business.

  • Establishing the HEMs technical vision and leading the technological strategy with view on Batteries, contactors, charging systems and power electronics based on existing and new vehicle EE -architectures by establishing and maintaining a strong link to OEMs and Tier1s and related consortia
  • Directs  HEMs technologies strategic roadmap, development and future growth in strong collaboration with Product Managers 
  • Participate in management decisions BU/ product line governance
  • Oversees current technology and governance to create relevant directions for Product Engineering ME/ Operations and procurement ( make vs buy)
  • Maintain current information AND seek future ones about technology standards and compliance regulations
  • Identify technology opportunities and risks for the business together with Product Management
  • Monitor technology and industry trends that could impact the company . E.g. strong understanding of supply base with view on ChipSet technology and applications in new architectures
  • Provide leadership to HEMs department head in a fashion that supports the company's culture, mission and values
  • Works in a consultative fashion with other department heads, such as S&M ,product engineering, advanced development,procurement,  production and operations as an advisor of technologies to improve efficiency and effectiveness
  • Conducts research and case studies on leading edge technologies, alignment and assessment on implementation probability based on consolidated information from regional application engineering teams
  • Supports business acquisition Proposal assessing  Product Lifecycle execution and risk
  • Communicate the company's technology strategy to partners, management, industry and employees.

What your background should look like:

  • MS in engineering or technology disciplines. MBA or Ph.D. is preferred. 
  • More than 15 years of experience in engineering and technology field 
  • Broad knowledge and deep experience in automotive especially in the xEV products and technologies
  • Deep understanding of E/E architectures and cell chemistry in hybrid&electrical vehicles
  • Experience of mechanical, electrical and electronic component integration for high voltage systems
  • Expierence in compliance engineering to external standards , such as EMC, vehicle safety , functional safety  ISO26262,etc
  • Understanding of intellectual property concepts
  • Strong business acumen & strategic mindset
  • Proven team player particularly with view on different cultures in Europe, Asia and Americas
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken 
  • Clear strategic thinker with vision and ability to execute on priorities
  • Innovative
  • Team oriented working style with proven track record in organization and planning skills
  • Strong problem solving, strategic and tactical thinking and analytical skills
  • Knows his customers market and competition stand in detail and able to drive appropriate tactics for growth short and long term
