Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s Product Engineering Teams optimize existing products from information or input provided by marketing, customers, Operation Teams, Development Engineers or other employees. They maintain existing products, processes, and specifications including modifications for new applications consistent with manufacturing techniques and economies. They also initiate and implement programs to continuously improve quality, and cost, while meeting customer requirements and may support and implement product extensions to existing platform products to meet specific customer requirements. They are the key experts in the products they are responsible for at TE.


To grow our electronics team in Darmstadt, we are now looking for a Product Development Engineer // Produktentwickler/-in


Responsibilities & Qualifications

Key Tasks:

  • Responsible for product development from market definition through production and release.
  • Performs activities concerned with design, development, testing, and manufacture of electronic components, products, and systems.  
  • Conceives original ideas for new products and develops them into practical and economical models.  
  • Determines specifications, performs engineering analyses, makes preliminary sketches and coordinates support operations such as design, fabrication of prototypes and testing.  
  • Interacts with customers, vendors, marketing and sales personnel, and other engineering areas during the pre-production stages of new products.


    Interfaces with internal and external disciplines:

  • Reporting and regular communication to the Project Leader
  • Provide cross disciplinarily product related advise about technical and technical-commercial aspects
  • Have regular discussions on progress, work implementation and problems, priorities, analysis, audit, CAE with other involved parties
  • Advise and support manufacturing plants with technical solutions
  • Vendor liaison at all levels as required, contracting (through purchase department) and consultancy



    Key Qualifications, Experiences & Knowledge:

  • Bachelors or Master degree in Electrical engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum of 4-6 years of detailed electronic hardware design experience with a very good understanding of industrial electronic including microcontroller and FPGA systems as well as analog electronics in general with main focus on power electronics
  • Good knowledge of electronic buses like SPI, I²C as well as communicaton interfaces ranging from RS232, RS 485 to Ethernet and WiFi
  • Familiar with debugging, testing using analytical methods as well as examination by
    adequate measurement methods
  • Experience in simulating circuits with LTSpice or similar, close to real results
  • Confident in schematic capture and PCB layout with Altium Designer or similar
  • Experience with modular product architectures & platforming
  • EMI aware development
  • knowldedge of heat management is of advantage
  • Proven skills in a product development environment.
