Job Overview

As an Import/Export Analyst in our Global Trade Services (GTS) team in Darmstadt, you will provide cross-location support for customs and foreign trade activities, assess trade compliance risks with the help of independent data analyses and develop process solutions and optimizations. Your core tasks:
•    Further development and automation of the internal control system for customs and foreign trade activities
•    Support customs and foreign trade audits, evaluate audit reports and deduce measures for findings
•    Independent preparation of work and organizational instructions
•    Take on projects of customs and foreign trade related topics
•    Apply and implement of suitable customs procedures for a wide range of business constellations (in particular, local clearance procedures)
•    Coordinate the operational processing of customs brokers and identify and implement opportunities for improvement
•    Analyze data and evaluate key figures to identify compliance risks and develop potential opportunities for cost savings and increased effectiveness
•    Monitor changes in trade regulations and legislation and appraise the associated potential impact on the company, as well as derive the necessary actions
 

What your background should look like:

•    Bachelor degree or completed vocational training as a forwarding agent, foreign trade clerk or similar
•    Further training in customs and foreign trade, e.g. customs declarant or customs specialist
•    4+ years of experience in trade compliance and operational customs clearance including the use of simplified customs procedures
•    Well-founded knowledge of customs law (in particular customs procedures and customs valuation law)
•    Experience in setting up and applying an internal control system
•    Initial experience in customs and foreign trade audits
•    Solid knowledge of IT systems such as SAP and other BI applications
•    Very confident with MS Office applications (especially Excel incl. Power Pivot and Access) and a further advantage is experience with Power BI
•    Analytical and process-oriented thinking, independent and structured way of working as well as a strong ability to work in a team
•    Very good written and spoken English skills
•    Some travel may be required to perform the duties

As the ideal candidate for this position, you are not only familiar with the operational side, but also know how to legally assess these activities and optimize customs processes with determination, ensuring the sustainable internal and external application of best practices.
