Job Overview

The Aerospace, Defense, and Marine (AD&M) Business Unit (BU) focuses on the development and continued sustaining of products in the Aerospace, Space, Defense, and Military industries.

The CTO Engineering Excellence team is a focal point within the Engineering Organization of the BU, responsible for the pursuit of efficiency and effectiveness within all aspects of Engineering and Project Management. and has the following main areas of responsibility:

  • Develop a Continuous Improvement Strategy for Engineering aligned to the global TE Operating Model (TEOA)
  • Work across entire BU to align engineering application of TEOA and Lean principles
  • Drive execution of continuous improvement aligned to Strategic Objectives
  • Particular attention to capacity creation and AI opportunities across the entire engineering organization
  • Engineering Performance Improvement Analysis and Analytics
  • Coordinate CTO strategy deployment

Responsibilities

The Sr. Manager Continuous Improvement reports to the Director, PMO & Engineering Excellence. In this global role, the Sr. Manager Continuous Improvement will provide leadership and direction to increase the efficiency of the Engineering (and Project Management) function through the development and execution of a structured approach to improvement.

TE follows a SET (Strategy, Execution and Talent) Framework and the following outlines the typical responsibilities of the role (note that this list is not exhaustive and may omit additional related responsibilities):

Strategy

  • Work with the Engineering Leadership team to develop a strategy to achieve maturity within the TEOA model,
  • Align the Improvement Strategic Plan to the wider Strategy to target investment in priority areas,
  • Define the approach and plan needed to create a mindset and culture of continuous improvement within Engineering,
  • Co-ordinate cross-functionally and across the wider TE business to leverage and share best practice. Execution
  • Create the framework to identify and prioritize areas of potential improvement,
  • Define the annual improvement objectives and hold the business accountable for the delivery of the agreed projects,
  • Lead transformation improvement projects and support a team of Kaizen facilitators in the preparation for and leadership of all continuous improvement activity,
  • Create mechanisms to track project progress and essential feedback loops to manage risk,
  • Create oversight on the progress of measurable KPI’s through regular tracking and review meetings with senior staff and executive management,
  • Develop suitable metrics to demonstrate progress and impact and to direct future priorities. Talent
  • Develop a talent plan to ensure global coverage of a team of Kaizen facilitators and Site Leaders (indirect reporting),
  • Ensure suitable training is available to maintain the Kaizen facilitator talent pool,
  • Provide mentorship and Coaching to the nominated continuous improvement owners across the Engineering group and wider engineering organization.

What your background should look like

Experience/qualifications:

  • 10+ years leadership in a multi-national, product and technology development environment with a preference for experience in related industries,
  • Track record of delivering consistent and demonstrable year over year improvements aligned to business strategy,
  • Experience leading an organization on the continuous improvement journey from the initial stages of a structured business model to an optimized one,
  • Experience in design engineering and the product development stage gate process,
  • Proficiency in standard reporting/presentation and data analysis tools,
  • Experience in Six Sigma and Lean methodologies desirable,
  • Strong general IT skills

COMPENSATION
•    Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $149-185 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
•    Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
•    Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
