Director Supplier Quality (f/m/d)

Job Overview

The major focus area for the position will be to improve TE supplier quality.  TE Automotive currently utilizes approximately 3700 suppliers to support high volume, high mix production of precision engineered connectors, sensors, cables and mechatronics products.  The Supplier Quality Director will put in place standards for supplier evaluation, establish strategies for improving supplier quality, engage with key suppliers to improve quality and participate in the new supplier selection process to meet the needs of the growing business.  There will be particular emphasis on developing suppliers in emerging markets.  To support the supplier performance goals the Supplier Quality Director will support talent assessment and training plan development for application across the regional supplier quality teams.

Key Responsibilities:

•    Provide functional leadership for the regional supplier quality teams.
•    Drive improvement in supplier quality and delivery performance.
•    Establish methods to communicate and align supply base to achieve quality objectives (quality contracts, supplier charge back, etc.).
•    Perform strategic supplier reviews.
•    Engage with regional teams to improve chronic supplier performance.
•    Lead and coordinate regional team efforts to develop low cost and local country suppliers to support quality and productivity objectives.
•    Align roles and responsibilities between supplier quality and the balance of the organization in order to optimize effectiveness.
•    Facilitate establishment and roll out of standard procedures for all aspects of supplier quality management.
•    Assess talent and resource needs.
•    Develop training programs to improve skills of regional teams (i.e SQE Academy).
•    Represent Automotive on quality related initiatives with the TE Procurement Council
•    Drive improvement in corporate supplier interface tools such as the supplier portal, scorecard, TE operating advantage (TEOA P) tools, etc.

What your background should look like:

•    10+ years of experience in operational leadership positions including quality, engineering, etc.
•    Demonstrated ability to implement proactive quality processes.
•    Ability to solve complex problems with solid, repeatable process.
•    Significant responsibilities for a supplier quality organization, regional and global
•    Experience managing a large and diverse group of suppliers.
•    Ability to work across cultures and geographies effectively.
•    Experience in managing a geographically diverse organization.
•    Ability to influence and get things done through others without direct authority.
•    Problem solving solid knowledge and experience required.
•    Lean experience or certification is desired.
•    Minimum of a Bachelors degree, preferably in an engineering discipline
