Mgr. Payroll D-A-CH (f/m/d)

Job Overview

The manager payroll (f/m/d) develops, implements and modifies policy/procedures in alignment with strategy and administers the preparation, documentation and disbursement of paychecks, taxes and benefit pay-ments. Develops, delivers and improves Payroll processes and programs in alignment with strategy through continuous improvement and evaluation efforts, technology solutions and centralized shared services. 


•    Manages all aspects of multi-legal entity payroll processing and oversees the accurate and timely pro-cessing of payroll
•    Serves as the principal lead for payroll by partnering with HRIS to identify, track, research, resolve, communicate and implement fixes, including data audits and payroll testing
•    Evaluates existing processes and provides recommendations for process improvements through collab-oration with Management, Payroll team members, HR, Benefits, Compensation, IT and business part-ners
•    Serves as subject matter expert to employees, Managers and other HR professionals
•    Works closely with Finance on managing external audits, data configuration for general ledger and re-porting
•    Manages routine audits of 3rd party vendor data against internal system data
•    Develops and implements operational policies, procedures and training for payroll staff
•    Overview, research, and interpretation of the federal, state and local tax rules and regulation to ensure compliance. Stays abreast of regulatory and policy changes affecting areas of responsibility
•    Payroll for International Assignees
•    Proposes budget for Payroll projects, services, and systems to meet current and future business needs.
•    Plays a key role including leadership in various projects throughout the year
•    Prepares and provides training to end users
•    Manages, evaluates and develops a team of Payroll managers and/or professionals. Build strong rela-tionships with client groups to understand business strategy and to identify appropriate Total Rewards solutions

What your background should look like:

•    Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent); advanced degree preferred
•    Typically requires a minimum of 8+ years of progressive Payroll experience
•    Minimum 3+ years managerial experience and strong leadership skills to motivate his/her team
•    Deep knowledge of Payroll laws
•    Depth and breadth of experience in Payroll disciplines, including data management, metrics and meas-urement and operations
•    Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
•    Experience with tax systems and reporting preferred
•    Experience with time and attendance systems preferred
•    Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred

•    Knowledge of advanced financial principles
•    Prior experience in an international environment will be nice to have
•    Very good communication skills – written and verbal both in German and English
•    Customer orientation and resolution centricity capabilities
•    Understands global and local environments and is able to provide localized support to the customer
•    Business mindset and solution-oriented abilities
•    Capability to create value for the business through HR solutions that result in winning outcomes by build-ing collaborative partnerships through strong customer focus and solid business knowledge
