Job Overview

 

TE Connectivity's Field Application Engineering teams work intimately with customers to recommend products and solutions for new and existing applications. They identify new applications, requirement modifications and enhancements to meet customer specifications and conduct on-site installation and service of product. They are responsible for all technical aspects of the sales cycle for potential application of company products to meet customer needs, including identifying opportunities, determining solutions, creating demand, preparing detailed product specifications and technical marketing support, ensuring high-quality project execution, and providing ongoing technical support. They also approve operational quality of systems and equipment.

 

The Sr. Field Application Engineer will serve as the primary technical resource supporting strategic customers within the Data Center Power & Cooling market. The successful candidate will work directly with customer engineering teams, program managers, channel partners, and TE cross-functional teams to develop design-in opportunities and accelerate adoption of TE Connectivity solutions across critical infrastructure applications. This role requires frequent customer engagement and on-site support with strategic accounts in the Columbus, Ohio region, including one of TE Connectivity's most important customers in the Data Center ecosystem. Candidates should reside within driving distance of Columbus, OH, or be willing to relocate. Domestic relocation assistance may be available for highly qualified candidates.

The successful candidate will support opportunities across critical power and cooling infrastructure applications, including power distribution equipment, switchgear, UPS systems, liquid cooling systems, cooling distribution units (CDUs), and related infrastructure supporting next-generation data centers.

 

 **This role offers remote flexibility but requires candidates to be based in the Columbus, OH Area.

Job Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary technical interface between customer engineering teams and TE Connectivity.
  • Drive design-in activity and technical opportunity development for TE Connectivity's portfolio, including connectors, relays, contactors, EMC filters, wire and cable assemblies, custom harnesses, and electrical interconnect solutions.
  • Develop strong technical relationships with customer engineering, program management, and procurement organizations.
  • Identify new application opportunities and support customer product development roadmaps.
  • Collaborate with Product Management, Engineering, Sales, and Marketing teams to communicate Voice of Customer (VOC), technology trends, and future market needs.
  • Support new product introduction (NPI) activities and identify opportunities for future TE product development.
  • Deliver technical presentations, customer training, and product application support.
  • Drive pipeline generation and support execution of TE Connectivity's Data Center Power & Cooling growth strategy.
  • Coordinate cross-functional resources to ensure successful project execution and customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor competitive activity, emerging technologies, and industry trends within the Data Center ecosystem.

What your background should look like

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in Field Applications Engineering, Technical Sales, Systems Engineering, Product Engineering, or a related customer-facing technical role.
  • Experience supporting OEMs, system integrators, infrastructure equipment manufacturers, or industrial customers.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, power distribution, connectivity solutions, or critical infrastructure applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to work directly with customer engineering organizations to develop technical solutions.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Willingness to travel as required to support customers and business objectives.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within Data Center infrastructure markets.
  • Experience supporting Critical Power applications including UPS, PDU, switchgear, busway, power distribution systems, or energy storage equipment.
  • Experience supporting Cooling applications including liquid cooling, CDU systems, thermal management infrastructure, or HVAC-related technologies.
  • Familiarity with connectors, relays, contactors, wire and cable solutions, and related interconnect technologies.
  • Experience with CAD tools, application drawings, or concept development.
  • Experience supporting channel partners and distribution networks.
  • Understanding of NPI processes, customer roadmaps, and Voice of Customer methodologies

COMPENSATION
•    Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $104,000 – 156,000(subject to change dependent on physical location)
•    Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
•    Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
