Job Overview
Technical Support Engineer III serves as TE's on-site technical representative at supplier facilities, ensuring successful product industrialization, production readiness, quality performance, and delivery execution. The role partners closely with suppliers and cross-functional teams to drive NPI, capacity expansion, process optimization, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement initiatives while ensuring customer and business requirements are achieved.
Job Requirements
- Act as the primary on-site technical liaison between TE and assigned suppliers.
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI), transfer projects, and production ramp-up activities.
- Monitor supplier production performance, capacity utilization, and operational readiness.
- Drive issue resolution for manufacturing, quality, capacity, and delivery challenges.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Operations, Supply Chain, and Sourcing teams.
- Support Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Evaluate manufacturing processes and identify opportunities for productivity improvement.
- Conduct supplier assessments, process audits, and readiness reviews.
- Ensure compliance with TE standards, product requirements, and customer expectations.
- Provide regular reports on supplier performance, risks, escalation status, and improvement activities.
- Lead or support continuous improvement projects to improve quality, cost, delivery, and operational efficiency.
What your background should look like
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Electronics, Manufacturing Engineering, or related disciplines.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in manufacturing, supplier engineering, process engineering, quality, or operations.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, NPI, and production management.
- Proven experience working directly with suppliers and cross-functional teams.
- Experience driving process improvements and resolving manufacturing issues.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, SPC, PFMEA, and problem-solving methodologies.
- Strong communication, project management, and stakeholder management skills.
- Willingness to work at supplier sites and travel as required.
- Experience in electronics, connector, cable assembly, automotive, or high-volume manufacturing environments.
- Strong understanding of supplier operations and production processes.
- Hands-on experience supporting NPI, production transfer, or factory ramp-up projects.
- Ability to analyze production, quality, and operational data to drive improvements.
- Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis capabilities.
- Experience working in a fast-paced multinational manufacturing environment.
- Self-driven with excellent collaboration and influencing skills.
- Comfortable working directly with suppliers and leading improvement initiatives.
