Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s Field Application Engineering Teams work intimately with customers to recommend products and solutions for new and existing Motor Connectivity applications in North and Latin America. Our major clients are located in the US North/Northeastern region, and some on West Coast and South (Texas). The Field Applications Engineer will be required to travel up to 50% to 75%, mainly domestically and some international trips to Latin America. This is a remote role except for customer visit times, and our preferred candidate locations are Detroit, Chicago, Milwaukee, Cleveland (OH), Pittsburgh and Philadelphia areas. 


Field Application Engineer's job purpose and responsibilities:

  • Ensure business growth by providing technical solutions for customers in Motor and Drive applications.
  • Identify new market/industry trends and understand the customer needs and, together with the customer, find appropriate opportunities and solutions for customer applications especially promoting TE’s highly engineered innovative portfolio (using either known technologies or new innovative developments).
  • Design-in and identification of new product developments resulting in growing project/opportunity pipeline as well as converting these opportunities to result in increasing revenue and greater market share for TE.
  • Provide full customer support in all technical-related topics in connection with TE products for Motor Connectivity, and lead and facilitate application-level discussions at their assigned customers.
  • Proactively drive the interface with the Account Manager and other Field Engineers associated with the same accounts as well as the Regional and Global Product Management Organization, Quality, Customer Service and Engineering.
  • Travel up to 50%-75% domestically and internationally to visit customers' sites and TE's sites. 

What your background should look like:

  • Bachelor degree required (Mechanical engineering, Electrical engineering, Electronics engineering preferred, or similar).
  • Professional level engineering experience and customer facing application consultation (>3 years)
  • In-depth understanding of Motor design / engineering principles, materials (especially contacts), manufacturing processes, and Agency Approval Standards
  • The ability to understand and work out complex technical solutions
  • Ability to identify and pursue new business opportunities in line with business plans.
  • High level of written and verbal communication and presentation skills, including ability to communicate in English.
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills and the ability to build strong, credible relationships with multiple organization functions (inside and outside of TE) 
  • Capability of creative, analytical and structured thinking with the ability to execute on priorities and work toward targets
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally.

•    Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $$86,800 – $106,800 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
•    Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
•    Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits + Car Allowance
