New Product Development (NPD) Senior Engineer

Job Overview

The New Product Development (NPD) Senior Engineer is responsible for managing all aspects of design, development and testing for medical devices at Toolbox in compliance with the ISO Quality Management System. This position will be able to perform all tasks required of a Project Manager. These duties include developing medical device designs and prototypes, detailed specifications and tolerances, and test methods and lead a team through the process. The Senior Product Development Engineer will also assist in the development of strategic plans for particular customer products and will assist in training junior Product Development Engineers.

 

Responsibilities:


•    Resource planning for meeting project needs
•    Team leadership
•    Work with leadership to develop strategy vision for development of a customer’s product
•    Mentor and manage Product Development Engineers
•    Update estimates, budgets, schedules, reports, and design control documents based on revisions and changes to the product designs and research projects
•    Evaluate the feasibility of selected concepts to meet functional customer needs
•    Perform 3D and 2D computer aided design
•    Design, develop and prototype new products in accordance with ISO 13485 and company Product Development Document (PDD) requirements
•    Evaluate the feasibility of concepts and/or prototypes through engineering testing and analysis, 
•    Evaluate, document, and implement potential design and process changes to improve product performance, manufacturability, safety or cost 
•    Must have a strong understanding of new product development technologies and application to company needs
•    Obtain components, supplies, and equipment to support prototype assembly, and conduct preliminary OEM vendor assessment and selection
•    Assess reliability, safety, performance and risk of new designs & methodologies; communicate development schedules and compatibility or design issues throughout the team continuously
•    Provide input into the creation and modification of Product Specifications in alignment with Customer Requirements
•    Identify, develop and implement pre-production assembly methods and equipment; Coordinate with OEM vendor activities relative to communication of specifications, development schedules, and system compatibility
•    Transfer of designs to manufacturing through liaison with manufacturing engineering and external suppliers
•    Travel as needed (domestic and international)
•    Perform other duties as assigned
 

What your background should look like:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and 8 years of medical engineering experience or minimum of 16years related applicable medical engineering experience.
• Must have experience developing products in the medical device or diagnostics fi eld.
• Must be able to lead engineering teams.
• Manage customer relationships.
• Experience in Project management a plus.
• Experience in project progress, and budget reporting desirable.
• Experience in ISO QMS required.
• Must have a working knowledge of 3D solid modeling with preferred knowledge in Solidworks.
• Must have a working knowledge of design for plastic injection molding and mold design experience.
• Shop experience desirable with a working knowledge of drawing creation, manufacturing methods, tolerances,and general design for manufacturing.
• Must work with management team and program managers.
• Must be able to create and maintain project action items and hold others accountable.
• Must maintain and eff ect company vision, values, and culture.
• Strong Excel experience.
• Excellent communication skills.

COMPENSATION
•    Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $71,000 – 107,000 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
•    Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
•    Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
