Job Overview
TE Connectivity’s R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams conceive original ideas for new products, introduce them into practice. They are responsible for product development, and qualification from market definition through production and release; assist in the qualification of suppliers for new products to ensure suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services for new or improved manufacturing processes; conduct feasibility studies, testing on new and modified designs; direct and support detailed design, testing, prototype fabrication and manufacturing ramp. The R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams provide all required product documentation including, but not limited to, Solid Model, 2D/3D production drawings, product specifications, and testing requirements. They create and modify detailed drawings and drafting or conceptual models from layouts, rough sketches or notes and contribute to design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operation or quality of product. Typical fields of expertise include: materials, mechanics and systems, electrical, optics, chemistry, software, automation systems, packaging, testing and measurement, and manufacturing of electrical, mechanical and electronic components, products, and their integration into systems.
Tasks & Profile

• The Automation and software engineer will work in a team developing industrial termination machines. Those machines are manufacturing harnesses, linking wires and connectors on mass scale.
• The position is project engineering-oriented beginning with system concept and continuing through the end of system life. Specific responsibilities include the preparation of system performance and test specifications; verification and ultimate approval of supplier designs; engineering follow through manufacturing, test, and installation.
• Works closely with product managers to ensure development meets or exceeds customer requirements. This includes ensuring that product designs are well document and communicated.
• Monitor technology trends such as emerging standards for new technology opportunities.
• Designing, coding and debugging applications in various languages.
• Support field engineers organization in analyzing field failures.
• Front end graphical user interface design.
• Support, maintain and document software and automation functionality.
• Project Planning and Project Management.
• Maintain standard compliance (CE).
• Must demonstrate the ability to develop software solutions by studying informational needs, conferring with users, and studying a prescribed work process.
• Work on projects that will involve mathematical data analysis, data acquisition and storage, and hardware interfacing and control.
• Participate in a cross functional project teams with scientists, technical support and other engineers to diagnose software and firmware issues.
• Document software/firmware/automation and write technical specification for their use.
• Must have strong oral and written communication and the ability to work as an individual contributor within a matrix organization.
• Provides electrical and automation support to the engineering departments.
• Performs skilled electrical/electronic design duties requiring the use of design techniques, theory, principles, computations, and technical knowledge.
• Performs work by instructions and design concepts making independent decisions in developing electrical design concepts of/for complex production mechanisms.
• Prepares electrical design drawings and reviews the adequacy of design features and general cost estimates. Completes the overall electrical design and layout upon approval of the basic concept.

• Bachelor or Master degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• A least 3 - 5 years software architecture and engineering experience required.
• 3 - 5 years project management experience as a plus.
• Team minded, excellent troubleshooting capabilities, good technical understanding.
• System design and integration skills.
• Analog and digital circuit design skills.
• Knowledge of microprocessors, digital signal processors, complex logic devices.
• Experience in the following software languages, Step 7 for Siemens PLC S7, TiA Portal, Win CC, Borland Delphi 7 and Visual Studio C#.
• Knowledge of Eplan software.
• Experience with parameterization of Siemens components.
• Experience with motor controllers for stepper motors and servo motors.
