Why you should join:

The Connected Living Solutions Business Unit is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to contribute to the design and development of Terminals, Splices, and Connectors. In this role, you will play a key part in the entire product lifecycle, from initial concept to production and release. Your responsibilities will include defining specifications, performing engineering analyses, creating preliminary designs, and coordinating support activities such as prototype fabrication and testing. Additionally, you will support legacy products through VAVE activities, address customer inquiries, and provide manufacturing support.

Your main tasks:

  • Development of Terminals, Splices, and Connectors, from concept to production release.
  • Collaborate with customers, TE Product Managers, Sales, and Field Application Engineers to translate Voice of Customer (VOC) into design concepts and specifications.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, including mechanical and thermal simulations.
  • Develop detailed 2D/3D designs, perform DFMEA and tolerance analysis, and validate prototypes.
  • Manage product qualification and finalize specifications.
  • Provide technical support to Operations for efficiency improvements and successful product launches.
  • Resolve product issues and manage Engineering Change Notifications (ECN) and Product Change Notifications (PCN).
  • Support projects through the LEANPD Project Process, ensuring on-time, quality, and budget completion.
  • Provide technical support to customers, sales, project management, and plant teams.
  • Collaborate with global manufacturing, procurement, and suppliers to achieve technical, quality, and cost objectives.
  • Develop comprehensive technical documentation, including design drawings, requirements, change notices, and design history files.
  • Maintain legacy products, including Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) activities, customer inquiries, and manufacturing support.

Your ideal background:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on electrical components, device design, mechanical structures, tooling (stamping, molding, assembly, plating), or process development.
  • Proficiency in 3D design tools (e.g., Creo, Spaceclaim) and GD&T.
  • Experience with finite element analysis tools (e.g., Ansys Workbench) as an occasional user.
  • Ability to write design objectives and product specifications effectively.
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, molding, stamping, plating, assembly) and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles.
  • Fluent in English (verbal and written) for effective global communication.
