Job Title: Manufacturing Development Engineer – Collegno, Italy


Job Overview
The Appliances Manufacturing Development Engineer (MDE) Die Engineer is a key member of all new development projects and is responsible for the successful design, build and qualification of new die tooling and processes to assure the successful launch execution for new product development projects. Specifically, this particular role will focus on the integration and qualification of new tooling at the TE Collegno Facility and may also involve support for qualifications within the local EMEA and Asia Pacific supplier base. Job Responsibilities
•    Responsible for Design and Development of die tooling and processes to support new product development 
•    Supports Product Development in the optimization of designs for manufacturability; realizes sample tooling, product samples and prototypes. 
•    Determines the most suitable manufacturing concepts related to planned manufacturing quantities, quality requirements and manufacturing location.
•    Provide cost estimations for new die tooling and associated processes. Determine sourcing strategies and establish manufacturing plan. 
•    Prepare die tooling specifications for quotation and ensure dies are developed according to TE Engineering Standards and tool-up comply with environmental management procedures 
•    Ensure dies are designed to be capable of producing good quality products efficiently and effectively at the lowest possible cost 
•    Chair and conduct die tooling design review with the Engineering, Operation and Quality engineering teams
•    Utilize analysis software applications to enhance stamping accuracy and die approval (simulation, 3D modeling)
•    Approval of First Article inspections and process capability.  Ensure approval through close follow-up on die conditioning, debugging, and modification.
•    Ensure projects are completed in a timely manner and properly transferred to manufacturing upon First Article approval complete with documentation 
•    Work within a cross-functional team consisting of various process experts.
•    Collaborate with global experts to update and continuously improve operational standards with regard to high speed stamping technologies.
•    Incorporate latest technologies and trends into tool designs to maximize yield and efficiency.
•    Champion flexible manufacturing and integrate flexible platforms into designs. 
•    Integrate feedback and lessons learned into new dies and auxiliary processes.


•    Bachelor’s Degree Mechanical or equivalent


Key Requirements
•    Die Engineering experience
•    Familiar with CAD/CAM/CAE software application (2D, 3D, Simulation)
•    More than 3 years of tool design knowledge / experience
•    Good knowledge in tool making, tool-steel application/selection, heat treating, and plating/coating. 
•    Proficient in drafting techniques, understand tolerance calculations and has working knowledge of mechanical elements and fits
•    Good knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
•    Good project management skill – Ability to work on several projects at once.
•    Able to prepare and present Technical knowledge within a group setting
•    Understand practices, terminology and tolerances associated with fabrication, machining, grinding, wire EDM, etc.  
•    Ability to effectively communicate in English – Written and Spoken
•    Experience working in other engineering disciplines such as Assembly Engineering a plus
