Job Overview

The Center of Excellence (CoE) Assembly Automation Expert is responsible for developing and driving Assembly Automation excellence across TE Connectivity’s Global Automotive sector. The role focuses on designing lean, efficient, simplified and globally standardized assembly and manufacturing solutions that minimize non–value-added content and movements, leveraging minimum technical solutions to achieve high efficiency and scalability.

Your main tasks:

Deployment & Process Optimization

  • Develop and deploy lean-based automation concepts eliminating waste and unnecessary complexity
  • Drive RtD Deployment and productivity improvements across all global assembly sites
  • Support plant-level initiatives for productivity, material efficiency, and cost reduction

Innovation & Standardization

  • Create, evaluate, and implement scalable, flexible, and digital assembly concepts using minimal capex and lead time
  • Lead innovation projects in collaboration with CoEs, ME, and Digital teams
  • Define and maintain assembly and automation roadmaps and global standards

Lean Industrial Design

  • Ensure all assembly system designs adhere to Lean Industrial Design principles focusing on simplicity, value creation, ergonomic efficiency, flow and sustainability
  • Evaluate existing automation systems for improvement opportunities
  • Champion the philosophy of “minimum technical solution” while maintaining robustness

Change Management & Team Development

  • Lead and facilitate structured workshops to align stakeholders on lean automation goals
  • Work with engineering and operations teams to ensure cultural adoption of lean principles
  • Identify and mentor high-potential talent in assembly automation and CoE disciplines
  • Foster a team spirit where global participants collectively feel ownership for CoE standards

Collaboration & Global Alignment

  • Partner with regional and global manufacturing and TEOA teams to harmonize processes and standards
  • Engage lead by Indirect Procurement with equipment suppliers and integrators to embed TE’s lean design philosophy and collaborate with equipment suppliers on innovation projects and technology roadmaps
  • Promote knowledge-sharing, best practices, and benchmarking across sites

Your ideal profile:

  • Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Minimum 8+ years in Assembly Manufacturing Engineering or Automation Development (automotive preferred)
  • Minimum 5 years leading global or cross-functional automation projects
  • Deep understanding of Lean Industrial Design and its application in automation and manufacturing
  • Expertise in assembly automation technologies, robotics, and control systems
  • Expertise in conducting 3P (Production Preparation Process) workshops
  • Proven capability in change management and facilitation of multi-stakeholder workshops
  • Strong project management, innovation, and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate across global, multicultural teams
  • Proficiency in English (spoken and written)
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma or similar continuous improvement methodologies is an asset
  • Willingness to travel globally to support sites and CoE workshops
  • Commitment to fostering a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and innovation across TE’s global operations
