Job Overview

The Cable and Cable Assembly (CCAO) Product Development Engineer is responsible for new products development, sustaining activities on existing products in conjunction with internal/external teams (Product Management, Project/Program Management, Sales and Customer).

Conceives original ideas for new products and reduces them into a practice. Is responsible for cable assembly product development and qualification from market/customer definition through production and release. Supports suppliers and plants for new products to ensure that suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services for new or improved manufacturing processes.

Supports team members with design, testing, prototype fabrication and manufacturing ramp. Provides all required product documentation including, but not limited to, model, production drawings, product specifications, all related documents and testing requirements.

CCAO is currently recruiting a Product Development Engineer to support our Cable & Cable Assembly team. This position will develop and supervise customer specific products on complete product life time for the Cable and Cable Assembly Organization

Responsibilities & Qualifications


  • Drive the product requirements and specifications related to the customer specific needs on cable assemblies
  • Evaluate the criteria for mass production, advise customer and Product Management where needed proposing alternatives if necessary
  • Define the necessary components, work on Bill of Materials, research for alternatives
  • Build a process operation, work on tools and testing environment where required
  • Calculate the end product cost price
  • Work on customer’s samples, lead the sample testing and approval process
  • Manage the sustaining activities on a given products
  • Support production sites on released manufactured products.
  • Work on environmental product requirements

Key Qualifications, Experiences & Knowledge:

  • Bachelor/master engineering degree in electrical/electronic/mechatronic disciplines
  • Several years on the job experience in Product Design (cable assembly experience is preferred)
  • Fully acquainted with CAD/CREO systems and other common software
  • Knowledge about cable assembly product manufacturing
  • Experience in materials engineering preferred
  • Understanding of various data and signal transmissions protocols
  • Background on integrated Hybrid (power, signal, and data) cable design is preferred
  • Work practice on testing devices, background on the test standards for cables and cable assemblies (measurements, electrical tests, mechanical)
  • English, speaking and writing is a must
  • German, speaking and writing is preferred
