Job Overview

As part of HR’s journey to enable growth through a closer partnership between HR and the TE Business, the Project Management Officer (PMO) Leader ensures that HR’s solutions are aligned with TE business priorities and that these solutions deliver exceptional value for TE. 

This enterprise process leader role is accountable for overall HR the alignment of resources, budgets and priorities to effectively deliver the HR Portfolio. The HR PMO Leader reports to the VP HR Solutions and will partner with senior business leaders to gain input that drives strategy, resource and funding decisions, and ensure that these senior executives are engaged at the appropriate level throughout the life cycle of critical programs.  In addition to strategy, the PMO Leader is responsible for performance tracking and HR governance, including HR’s participation in TE’s Quarterly Growth Reviews, executive HR leadership team coordination and the HR Project Approval Committee (PAC).  The HR PMO Leader is responsible for the orchestration of HR special projects directly involving the CHRO and direct reports, including independent leadership of special CHRO-initiated projects. In addition, this role proactively seeks to identify issues that could impact the successful execution of the CHRO’s commitments and elevates those issues about which the CHRO should be aware and frames/positions ideas to resolve the problem/mitigate the risk.

The position requires a highly resourceful individual with strong emotional intelligence, self-motivation, strong analytical skills and outstanding communications skills.  This skilled facilitator will work across the HR Innovation Centers, HR Solutions and Business/Function HR to accomplish their objectives.  The leader will be expected to present and facilitate discussions with TE Executive Leadership; experience, poise and confidence in this area will be critical to the candidate’s success. H/she must be innovative in thought and action, and must use these skills to elevate the competitive advantage of HR and TE.

Specific Job Functions Include:

  • Portfolio Management – Develop and maintain a framework for HR initiatives.  Develop, maintain, and prioritize major projects and associated resources.  Ensure that portfolio components are aligned with the strategic objectives of TE.
  • Program Management – Provide Program Management oversight for HR projects including governance and Program Action Committee (PAC) meetings based on lean/six sigma methodology and above standards. Manage special projects as assigned.
  • Strategic Planning – Facilitate strategic planning and provide ongoing oversight of HR’s progress in achieving the goals set forth in this document.

In addition, the individual candidate will be responsible for the following activities:

  • Participate in industry forums harvesting and socializing experience through both formal and informal benchmarking opportunities.
  • Build / mentor a global results oriented team including responsibility for the team’s career development and appraisals
  • Full budget responsibility for the Corp HR area and coordination and oversight for the total TE HR spend.
  • Other activities as assigned

The leader must possess excellent business acumen and industry / HR insight.  S/he must be a superb communicator and have remarkably creative thought.  The leader must be able to work across the entire Global HR and TE organizations without hesitation – demonstrating exceptional teaming and influencing skills. 

The position reports to the VP of HR Solutions with dotted line to CHRO.

Position Qualifications/Competencies - Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, organizational development or related field
  • 10+ years experience (HRBP, COE or HR Operations) with at least 5+ years managing multiple large-scale global initiatives
  • Six Sigma / Lean hands-on experience (certification preferred) 
  • Proven ability to operate successfully in a matrix environment
  • Strategic, critical reasoning and demonstrated ability to think in an enterprise-wide global mindset
  • Ability to present / interact crisply and fluently with executives; outstanding communication skills in both oral and written forms
  • Interpersonal savvy to manage highly sensitive and/or challenging situations
  • Highly strategic and facilitative; requires a combination of focus and flexibility, as well as a willingness to play an active, behind-the-scenes role
  • Financial and budgetary experience and able to analyze, course correct and make trade off decisions based upon ROI and organizational capacity
  • Entrepreneurial drive, creativity, and risk tolerance
  • Ability to work across functional and geographical boundaries with ease
