Job Overview

TE Connectivity is seeking an experienced and strategic leader to serve as the Director of Strategic Sourcing – Packaging. This role will oversee the global strategy, development, and execution of packaging procurement across all business units and regions. The successful candidate will drive value creation through supplier innovation, cost optimization, sustainability, and risk mitigation in a complex, high-volume manufacturing environment. 

Job Responsibilities

Global Sourcing Strategy 

  • Develop and lead the global packaging sourcing strategy aligned with TE's corporate goals, sustainability objectives, and operational requirements. 
  • Establish category plans that drive long-term competitive advantage, supplier collaboration, and innovation. 

Change Management 

  • Collaborate and maximize benefits with and across BU’s in a global center led structure. 

  • Influence others of the benefits of having a COE led structure before and during the transition period. 

Supplier Management 

  • Identify, develop, and manage strategic supplier relationships to ensure continuous improvement in cost, quality, delivery, and innovation. 
  • Conduct regular supplier performance reviews and risk assessments. 

Cost Leadership 

  • Deliver year-over-year cost savings through strategic negotiations, supplier consolidation, and leveraging global volumes. 
  • Support total cost of ownership (TCO) and should-cost analysis to influence product and packaging design decisions. 

Sustainability & Compliance 

  • Drive TE’s packaging sustainability roadmap, promoting recyclable, reusable, and reduced material solutions. 
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory compliance, quality standards, and internal procurement policies. 

Cross-functional Leadership 

  • Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Quality, and Business Unit teams to influence packaging design and material selection. 
  • Lead cross-functional sourcing initiatives and project teams to support product launches and operational efficiency. 

Data and Analytics 

  • Utilize spend analysis, market intelligence, and benchmarking to inform sourcing decisions and track performance against KPIs. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain management, Engineering, Business, or related field; MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred. 
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in global strategic sourcing, with a strong focus on packaging materials and solutions in a high-volume manufacturing environment. 
  • Deep knowledge of the packaging supply base, including corrugate, plastic, returnables, and specialty materials. 
  • Proven success leading global sourcing strategies, negotiations, and supplier development initiatives. 
  • Strong understanding of sustainability trends, packaging compliance standards, and circular economy principles. 
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills. 
  • Experience working in a matrixed, multinational organization with cross-functional project leadership. 
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (up to 25%).

COMPENSATION
•    Competitive base salary commensurate with experience:  $168,700 – $253,000 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
•    Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
•    Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
