Job Overview

The Director of Strategy & Business Development is one of the key leaders within the Channel organization, tasked with providing cross-functional Strategy and Business Development support across TE’s range of businesses. The Director, Strategy & Business Development will be a key member of the Senior Leadership Team within the Channel BU and actively drive and lead long term strategic planning and near term business development initiatives to drive growth. The Director will work closely with senior leaders throughout the company to deliver immediate business impact through recommendations based on strategic frameworks and evaluation of analytical data obtained from a range of sources.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Channel BU Leadership team in identifying and executing on key growth and margin expansion opportunities
• Constructively challenge the Channel BU to refine its “where to play” and “how to win” choices to drive growth, improve profitability, and sustain competitive advantage
• Define and lead the strategic planning process and facilitates the creation of strategic objectives for the Channel BU; identifies targets and measures for all objectives
• Support the Channel BU General Manager in championing transformational and large-scale growth ideas with stakeholders inside and outside the BU
• Become trusted advisor to senior leaders within the BU
• Lead cross-functional, cross-BU project teams to identify and develop adjacency growth projects that develop and evolve TE’s GTM strategies in distribution and with small customers  
• Be a thought leader in support of corporate strategies and new business development initiatives for cross-functional small customer growth and Extraordinary Customer Experience
• Lead a team of Strategy and Business Development professionals and be accountable for their performance and career development

Candidate Profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Science or Engineering from a leading institution is required. MBA from a top graduate program highly preferred.
• 8+ years of strategy / planning experience with a consulting firm or a leading global corporation, with at least 3 years of experience and success as a growth champion and a trusted advisor to senior executives in a large, global corporation
• Track record of successfully leading and program-managing complex, high-stakes strategy and corporate development efforts which require cross functional team leadership and the ability to work across organizational boundaries
• Leadership gravitas and communication skills to influence BU and segment executive teams on the investments and actions needed to accomplish BU’s growth objectives
• Strong business acumen and strategic mindset
• Exceptional communication and presentation skills
• Ability to work seamlessly with leaders at multiple levels in the organization
• The skills and tenacity to achieve results and influence leaders without formal authority
