Product Development Engineer Chipdesign and Technology (f/m/d)

Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams conceive original ideas for new products, introduce them into practice. They are responsible for product development, and qualification from market definition through production and release; assist in the qualification of suppliers for new products to ensure suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services for new or improved manufacturing processes; conduct feasibility studies, testing on new and modified designs; direct and support detailed design, testing, prototype fabrication and manufacturing ramp. The R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams provide all required product documentation including, but not limited to, Solid Model, 2D/3D production drawings, product specifications, and testing requirements. They create and modify detailed drawings and drafting or conceptual models from layouts, rough sketches or notes and contribute to design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operation or quality of product. Typical fields of expertise include: materials, mechanics and systems, electrical, optics, chemistry, software, automation systems, packaging, testing and measurement, and manufacturing of electrical, mechanical and electronic components, products, and their integration into systems.


  • Definition, development, design and simulation of semiconductor detectors (bipolar and CMOS) taking into account technological and application constraints including mask creation, development and implementation of new technology sequences and process flows in semiconductor production, organization and evaluation of analyses and fault investigations, definition of tests and their testing requirements as well as their statistical evaluation
  • Expert advice on the preparation of strategic product and technology roadmaps
  • Initiation and coordination of network partners as well as support of project management, key account management and sales, ensuring close cooperation and coordination with internal interfaces
  • (Partial) project management in development projects for product/technology development decisions including technical project management/documentation/communication and creation and management of development documentation
  • Selection/initiation for the selection of materials and processes under technical, economic and environmental aspects         
  • Technical training of colleagues on issues in the field as well as consulting and coordination of other departments/customers in the respective field of expertise
  • Independent planning, execution/supervision and analysis of technical tests to optimize product properties or to gain a deeper understanding under business-relevant aspects
  • Compliance with economic specifications, cost unit responsibility


  • Completed university education with relevant focus
  • Ideally several years of relevant practical work experience
  • Very good knowledge in the use of subject-specific software and strong knowledge of statistical methods
  • Experience with CMOS design
  • Experience with semiconductor processing
  • Good project management skills and strong experience with project management tools
  • Very good knowledge of German and English, both written and spoken
  • Confident appearance, independent, structured and forward-looking way of working
  • High degree of independence and initiative, ability to work under pressure, flexibility
