TE Connectivity's procurement teams are responsible for sourcing materials, components, equipment and services, obtaining quotations, reviewing bids and awarding contracts. They carry out cost analyses and quantity planning for goods, evaluate the reliability of suppliers and develop new sources of supply if necessary. They coordinate procurement activities with the manufacturing and engineering departments to maintain inventory at planned levels and monitor the cost, schedule and scope of assigned subcontracts to ensure the best quality at the best price. They also seek out and recommend cost saving proposals, including analysing manufacturing and purchasing contracts, alternative sourcing options and criteria for evaluating suppliers, and developing specifications for new orders.
 

Job Overview:

  • Member of the core team NPI (manufacturing/procurement) in the interdisciplinary core team (regional and global, with business, engineering, finance and quality) in the development of new projects in terms of processes and related tools and components
  • Main responsible for the coordination and management of Type II projects according to the responsibilities and tasks defined in LEANPD, AUTGP1
  • Overall coordination (on site) of the entire core team
  • Overall coordination of the entire manufacturing processes (tools, moulds, assembly, supplied components and processes), which can take place at both internal and external suppliers, with a focus on technology and procurement tasks
  • Coordination of PFMEA and manufacturing risk analysis focussing on the overall process together with AQE
  • Procurement decision for suppliers and sub-suppliers (post RFQ)
  • Responsible for negotiating bids with significant impact on meeting project objectives 
  • Preparation of costing data for the finance department: collection of all process-related technical data (cycle times, number of cavities, efficiency, number of operators required, capital expenditure required (CAPEX), manufacturing hours required, changeover times, batch sizes)
  • Initial assessment of mould-related requirements, mould and equipment orders, tracking of the schedule for all moulds and components
  • Organisation of master samples, transfer of new products and processes to production, change management, process documentation, etc.
  • Responsible for the coordination of product line related cost saving projects within procurement
  • Identification and promotion of process improvements

 

What your background should look like:

  • Bachelor's degree in economics or industrial engineering or equivalent Toolmaker (stamping, moulding or assembly tools)
  • At least 3 years of experience in the automotive industry
  • Several years of experience in procurement and/or in the technical field, e.g. process engineering, product development, toolmaking
  • Experience in project management is an advantage
  • Several years of experience in a technical field, e.g. process engineering, product development, toolmaking
  • Extensive experience in working with multicultural and cross-functional teams
  • High level of procurement expertise - e.g.: Business/supply chain knowledge, negotiation skills, procurement strategy development and implementation, project/product life cycle management)
  • Advanced knowledge in the use of SAP and Microsoft Office, i.e. Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint
  • Fluent in written and spoken English, German an advantage
