Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s Field Application Engineering Teams work intimately with customers to recommend products and solutions for new and existing applications. They identify new applications, requirement modifications and enhancements to meet customer specifications and conduct on-site installation and service of product and are responsible for all technical aspects of the sales cycle for potential application of company products to meet customer needs, including identifying opportunities; determining solutions; creating demand; preparing detailed product specifications and technical marketing support; ensuring high quality and timely project execution and conducting follow-up technical support. They also approve operational quality of systems and equipment.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

  • Work with the Field Service & Support Department Manager, and Team Leads to carry out all required tasks. 
  • Conduct self in mature and responsible manner.  Respectful to other team-mates.
  • Work in accordance with company and departmental policies and procedures
  • Work from Engineering drawings and procedures to assemble and test connectors and various interfacing assemblies
  • Terminate electrical and optical contacts and connectors using various cable types
  • Able to solder proficiently with appropriate J-Std and IPC 610 certifications
  • Able to perform optical fusion splices proficiently
  • Able to mold using industry standard materials
  • Use test equipment for both electrical and optical systems
  • Ensure all work equipment is in proper working condition and cleanliness requirements are maintained at all times, establish and maintain clean working environment
  • Maintain detailed documentation of all work performed, maintain daily log book of activities completed, maintain time and testing records, maintain accurate records of equipment procedures used for each process, record test results on standardized forms and generate test reports describing procedures used
  • Confer with technical staff to conduct analyses, interpret test results, or develop non-standard tests
  • Maintain schedules set by Field Service and Support Dept. Manager and Senior Leads
  • Work with various chemicals (e.g. oil, MEK, Flux, epoxy, etc) and understand SDS requirements
  • Travel nationally or internationally to perform field work
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Must be fluent in English and competent in written/verbal communication, Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
  • Must be able to read and work from engineering drawings
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
