Job Requirements
RFQ & Costing
• Prepare and release RFQs for plastics, stamping, any other direct Raw materials, components and tooling suppliers based on engineering drawings/specification.
• Lead end-to-end RFQ processes for commercial tooling (Build/Run & Build/Transfer) and raw materials such as metals, resins, cables, and electronics.
• Collect, consolidate, and analyze supplier quotations; benchmark costs using should-cost models and market data.
• Align bidder lists with strategic sourcing and commodity teams to ensure compliance with sourcing strategies and supplier capabilities.
• Recommend sourcing decisions based on technical and commercial evaluation.
• Support supplier negotiations and contract finalization in collaboration with legal and commercial teams.
• Maintain accurate documentation of RFQ responses, cost breakdowns, and supplier communications.
2. Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Partner with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to align procurement strategies with product requirements. Identify, assess, and qualify suppliers for plastic molding, stamping, and Toolings. Conduct supplier capability assessments and support audits (PPAP, APQP).
• Collaborate with MDE/Tooling teams on part/tool design for manufacturability and cost optimization. Track tooling development timelines, ensuring on-time delivery and validation.
• Participate in design-to-cost and value engineering workshops.
3. Cost Management
• Conduct detailed cost analysis to support sourcing decisions for new product introductions. Develop and validate should-cost models for components and assemblies using market data and manufacturing process insights. Benchmark supplier quotations against internal cost models and industry standards.
• Analyze BOMs to identify key cost drivers and areas for cost optimization. Collaborate with engineering and design teams to propose alternative materials or processes that reduce cost without compromising quality.
• Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities in collaboration with suppliers and cross-functional teams. Facilitate idea exchange sessions with internal stakeholders and suppliers to generate innovative cost-reduction proposals.
• Provide regular updates to project teams on cost status versus targets.Work proactively with stakeholders to address cost gaps and ensure alignment with financial expectations.Support decision-making with clear, data-driven cost insights and recommendations.
4. Project Execution
• Serve as the India-based sourcing engineer for industrial products targeted at the Indian market, ensuring compliance with local regulations, government initiatives, and customer-specific requirements.
• Support localization efforts in alignment with strategies like 70% Country of Origin (COO) rule and the Grow in India (GII) strategy, driving cost-effective and compliant sourcing solutions.
• Partner with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Quality, Indirect Procurement) to ensure supplier alignment and timely project execution.
• Maintain tracking tools across prototype, pre-production, and mass production phases, and work closely with suppliers to ensure timely updates, adherence to schedules, and alignment with overall project timelines.
5. Compliance & Governance
• Ensure all procurement activities adhere to TE policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. Ensure all procurement activities comply with internal policies and external regulations.
• Maintain documentation for audit trails, supplier approvals, and cost justifications.
Competencies
Role Overview:
As an NPI Strategic Sourcing Analyst based in Bangalore, you will be a key contributor to the successful launch of New Product Introduction (NPI) programs. This role requires a strong understanding of procurement and sourcing processes, with the ability to support both local and global projects. You will collaborate cross-functionally to ensure timely, cost-effective, and compliant sourcing of components and materials essential for new product development.
Key Responsibilities/Objectives :
1. Strategic Sourcing & Procurement
• Identify and evaluate suppliers for new product components and materials.
• Lead RFQ processes for components, commercial tooling (Build/Run & Build/Transfer), die-casting, machining, plating, electronics, and raw materials (metals, resins, etc.), cables and electronics etc.
• Align bidder lists with strategic sourcing and commodity teams. Recommend sourcing decisions based on technical and commercial evaluation.
2. Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Partner with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to align procurement strategies with product requirements.

• Maintain tracking tools across prototype, pre-production, and mass production phases, and work closely with suppliers to ensure timely updates, adherence to schedules, and alignment with overall project timelines.
5. Compliance & Governance
• Ensure all procurement activities adhere to TE policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. Ensure all procurement activities comply with internal policies and external regulations.
• Maintain documentation for audit trails, supplier approvals, and cost justifications.
6. Site Support
Collaborate with site teams (e.g., PM, ME) to support NPI launches and transition programs at various plants
7. Master Data Accuracy
• Maintain Info Records and Source Lists in alignment with MRP parameters including MOQ, pricing, and lead times.
• Support finance and program teams with cost roll-ups and variance analysis.
Qualifications & Experience:
1. Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field is preferred.
• MBA in Supply Chain Management or Procurement is a strong advantage.
2. Experience:
• 8–10 years of experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain management, preferably within a manufacturing or technology-driven environment. Proven expertise in supplier development, strategic sourcing, or manufacturing engineering, with a focus on plastics, stamping, and tooling.
• Prior experience in NPI sourcing is highly desirable
Skills & Competencies:
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work in a matrix organization.
• Strong understanding of injection molding, stamping processes, and tooling development.
• Customer-focused with a mindset for continuous improvement.
• Knowledge of PPAP Level 3, APQP, ISO9001/TS16949 standards.
• Proficient in SAP and Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and project management skills.
• Fluent in Business English, both written and spoken, to effectively engage with global teams and suppliers.
• Results-driven, with a focus on cost reduction and supplier quality.
• Self-driven, proactive, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
