Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Manufacturing and Process Development Engineering Teams significantly impact LEANPD driven new product development projects, driving for excellence in existing manufacturing technologies and methods and striving to implement new manufacturing technologies to provide improved process and tolerance control. They act as the binding element between product development and manufacturing engineering, ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of this critical interface. They support Product Development in the optimization of designs and piece parts for manufacturability by realizing sample tooling/products/prototypes. They also design, develop, and qualify tooling and processes to meet TE quality and production standards, document all processes and tooling in applicable TE systems, support supply chain to verify supplier compliance and capability, initiate and implement programs to continuously improve quality, cost and cycle time and adhere to all appropriate specifications, regulatory requirements and customer requirements.

Responsibilities

1.    Working with the business units to define and to implement the automation development projects.
2.    Interface with customers to collect voice of the customer and project requirements to ensure innovation meets business needs and business case.
3.    Present and report on areas of innovation to peers, managers, and executives in a compelling, clear and concise manner.
4.    Identify opportunities for process innovation in multiple areas of the company.
5.    Continually learning and leading automation technologies and market trends. Match business strategies to seek new system design opportunities that may be appropriate for TE.
6.    Required to travel overseas for short assignments, e.g. project discussion (ca. 20% of time).


Key Requirements:

1.    At least 10 years of technical experience in manufacturing automation with knowledge of current automation technologies.
2.    Experience with the implementation of automated equipment in a production environment.
3.    Excellent commercial and business acumen with deep experience in analyzing current technologies and capabilities on the market.
4.    Ability to communicate technical ideas, and vision and inspire people at every level to deliver and execute automation platforms.
5.    Experience in automation machine development, including concept design, system proposals and process simulations to generate supporting data is preferable.
6.    Ability to parameterize cameras, scanners, and vision systems (e.g. Cognex, Keyence).
7.    Very good command of English both written and oral, can perform complex technical discussions with foreign colleagues, and write complex technical documentation and specifications.
8.    International experience working with stakeholders from different countries and cultures.
 

Professional Background Desired:

1.    Demonstrated track record of successfully and effectively driving step changes in modern manufacturing through technological improvements.
2.    Rich experience in robotics, electro-mechanical design, analysis, and electro-mechanical parts selection.
3.    Rich experience in automation concept design, proposals, and process simulations.
4.    Industrial or manufacturing engineering background is highly preferred.
5.    Engineering degree (BSc,MSc) in industrial, manufacturing or automation preferred.

 

Nice to have:
1.    PhD degree with demonstrated experience in writing research papers.
2.    Experience in programming PLC controllers.
3.    Experience in programming industrial robots and cobots (e.g. ABB, Epson, UR).
4.    Experience in implementing AI/ML technologies.
