Job Overview

The Sr. R&D Product Development Engineer will be part of the Magnetic Sensors Product Development team and will be responsible for the design, development, validation and optimization of magnetic sensor products for automotive applications. The candidate will lead and support medium to large scale development programs involving xMR sensing technologies, particularly TMR-based position sensing solutions, from concept through production launch. The role requires strong technical leadership in sensor design, testing, validation, root cause analysis, innovation, and value creation activities

KEY RESPONSBILITIES:

•    Responsible for design and development of xMR sensor products for automotive applications,Strong expertise in magnetic sensor technology development,Working knowledge of automotive product development lifecycle.Knowledge of sensor characterization methods, reliability engineering and validation methodologies
•    Develop innovative sensing concepts for angular, rotary, and linear position sensing applications
•    Lead product development activities from concept generation, feasibility studies, prototype development, design verification, validation and product release.Understanding of simulation-led product development approaches.
•    Drive test strategy development, execution of characterization plans, validation testing, and correlation of experimental results with design expectations.
•    Analyze sensor performance data and utilize statistical techniques to optimize accuracy, robustness, signal quality, functional safety, manufacturability and cost.
•    Perform detailed root cause analysis using industry-standard methodologies such as 8D, Fishbone, Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Six Sigma DMAIC, and Design of Experiments (DOE).
•    Drive design optimization through electromagnetic analysis, simulation, experimentation and validation.
•    Support development of magnetic systems including sensor IC interaction, magnet design, magnetic circuit optimization and application-specific packaging considerations.
•    Collaborate closely with global cross-functional teams including ASIC design, application engineering, test engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain and customers.
•    Work directly with customers to understand application requirements, evaluate technical feasibility and define product specifications.
•    Lead FMEA activities (DFMEA/PFMEA), design reviews, risk assessments and product qualification activities.
•    Support New Product Introduction (NPI) and manufacturing transfers, ensuring compliance with quality, reliability and cost objectives.
•    Drive Value Engineering, Value Analysis (VAVE), competitive benchmarking and reverse engineering initiatives.
•    Create and protect intellectual property through invention disclosures, patents and technology development initiatives.Working knowledge of manufacturing processes impactinig sensor performance and reliability.

 

DESIRED SKILLS:

•    Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electromagnetics or related disciplines.
•    Strong understanding of magnetic sensing principles and sensor physics.
•    Deep technical knowledge of AMR, GMR and TMR sensor technologies, with practical experience in TMR position sensing preferred.
•    Good understanding of magnetics, electromagnetics, magnetic materials and magnetic circuit design.
•    Knowledge of automotive product development processes including APQP, PPAP and functional safety concepts.
•    Knowledge of statistical analysis tools such as Minitab or equivalent.
•    Experience in simulation and modeling tools such as Ansys Maxwell, COMSOL Multiphysics or equivalent is highly preferred.
•    Understanding of automotive qualification standards, environmental testing and reliability validation methods.
•    Familiarity with DFSS, Six Sigma methodologies and Design of Experiments (DOE) 

What your background should look like

•    8 to 12 years of experience in design and development of magnetic sensors for automotive applications.
•    Proven hands-on experience working with xMR sensor technologies, particularly TMR-based position sensing solutions•    Experience in working in a diverse and inclusion environment.
