Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams conceive original ideas for new products, introduce them into practice. They are responsible for product development, and qualification from market definition through production and release; assist in the qualification of suppliers for new products to ensure suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services for new or improved manufacturing processes; conduct feasibility studies, testing on new and modified designs; direct and support detailed design, testing, prototype fabrication and manufacturing ramp. The R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams provide all required product documentation including, but not limited to, Solid Model, 2D/3D production drawings, product specifications, and testing requirements. They create and modify detailed drawings and drafting or conceptual models from layouts, rough sketches or notes and contribute to design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operation or quality of product. Typical fields of expertise include: materials, mechanics and systems, electrical, optics, chemistry, software, automation systems, packaging, testing and measurement, and manufacturing of electrical, mechanical and electronic components, products, and their integration into systems.

What your background should look like:

Develop and improve current CAE methods, processes and standards and incorporate them into program applications. Provide CAE training, technical support and conduct electrical, thermal, structural and fatigue analysis requests from APL global engineering team. 

Main Responsibilities and Tasks.

•    Conduct product simulations to all product lines of APL global engineering team
o    Provide technical support and conduct electrical, thermal, structural and fatigue analysis requests from APL global engineering team.
o    Delivery of accurate, timely and directional analysis results.
o    Model build, analysis, results interrogation, interpretation and recommendation on product design modification and improvement according to simulation result. 
o    Evaluate mechanical, electrical and thermal performance of product designs and processes.
o    Create CAE Engineering status reports and verify completeness and correctness of CAE Assessments.
o    Develop and improve current CAE methods, processes and standards and incorporate them into program applications on typical APL connectivity designs to enhance the efficiency and precision of the simulation despite of user experiences.
•    Continuous improvement 
o    Model correlation and updating of the simulation models/procedures from test results to close simulation loops to continuously improve on simulation precision.
o    Develop proposals to integrate simulation with modelling upfront to enhanced APL modelling and simulation capabilities to improve the NPD process and help to “get it right the first time”.
o    Lead the pilot and implementation of the above solutions in APL global engineering.
•    Plan, organize and conduct CAE trainings on regular basis to enhance product simulation capabilities of APL global engineering team



Education, Technical Qualification: 
•    Masters (or higher) degree in Mechanical Engineering/design or materials Engineering, lower level technical degree(s) with longer work experience is also acceptable.
•    Min. 7 years’ product design and CAE related experience (including 5 years relevant professional experience in CAE structural analysis using with Ansys, including mechanical, electrical, thermal simulation).
•    Broad knowledge of materials, electronics, and product design.
•    The ideal candidate will have solid knowledge for mechanics, finite element and working knowledge of CAE/CAD programs on copper connectivity domain, including ANSYS, CREO, Solidworks etc., understanding different CAE methods Explicit and Implicit.
•    Proven trainer experience on conduct CAE training to global engineering team.
