ROLE OBJECTIVE 

We are looking for a highly motivated and engaged expert on materials to be part of the Teardown Lab and work with Engineers associated with the Teardown lab and to be part of Should costing and various Benchmarking analysis. Should cost is an analytical tool that helps the buyer evaluate what the price of a part/component/service should be. Your focus area will be on material analysis of various products and performing tasks such as improving choice of materials used, for cost reduction and to improve performance, and so forth. Conduct materials analysis using state of the art and well-equipped Materials Laboratory tools. The role is very transversal, with contacts and stakeholders across regions and different functions between Procurement, Industrialization and R&D (for technical expertise).

 

RESPONSIBILITIES
•    Define and execute testing and evaluation of materials to determine performance and drive material selection
•    Selecting best combination of materials based on purported uses 
•    Drive effective root cause analyses and corrective action for materials issues – Plastic and Metals
•    Provide guidance for material selection and improvements, and participate in technical decisions regarding materials aspects of design
•    Perform statistical analysis on materials testing results
•    Good learning agility / passion to explore / learning on the fly
•    Innovative and implement continuous improvement 
•    Good communication and presentation skill

Job Description

 

EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE
•    Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited course of study in Materials Engineering
•    Solid understanding of industry standards and regulations 
•    Hands on experience with materials characterization technologies

 

CRITICAL EXPERIENCE
•    8+ years’ experience working in the field of material science/engineering – Plastics and Metals
•    Experience with setting up and using material characterization tools and equipment’s such as Optical microscope, Digital microscope, Scanning Electron Microscope, XRD and so on
•    Experience in sample preparation for material analysis such as cutting, mounting, polishing
•    Experience with using hardness and micro-hardness testers and so on
