Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams conceive original ideas for new products, introduce them into practice. They are responsible for product development, and qualification from market definition through production and release; assist in the qualification of suppliers for new products to ensure suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services for new or improved manufacturing processes; conduct feasibility studies, testing on new and modified designs; direct and support detailed design, testing, prototype fabrication and manufacturing ramp. The R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams provide all required product documentation including, but not limited to, Solid Model, 2D/3D production drawings, product specifications, and testing requirements. They create and modify detailed drawings and drafting or conceptual models from layouts, rough sketches or notes and contribute to design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operation or quality of product. Typical fields of expertise include: materials, mechanics and systems, electrical, optics, chemistry, software, automation systems, packaging, testing and measurement, and manufacturing of electrical, mechanical and electronic components, products, and their integration into systems.

What your background should look like:


The SR Product Development Engineer will report to the Engineering Manager - Core C&F Energy and will be a member of the NPD team and responsible for NPD, VA/VE and sustaining engineering activity. The role will be the main point of contact for one of TE Energy’s product lines mainly connectors and fittings used in HV, MV& LV applications.


•    Perform engineering activities for new product development from ideation, design conceptualization till product launch.
•    Effectively facilitate transfer of new product introduction (NPI) into high volume manufacturing.
•    Apply engineering best practice to reduce cost and sustain exiting products to meet customer’s cost targets.
•    Collaborate with global engineering & product management teams to achieve product quality, and cost objectives.
•    Work with testing department for design validation & product verification plan.
•    Prototype development and product testing.


•    Bachelor’s degree (Mechanical) with manufacturing industry background a must.
•    Experience in various phases of product development and product realization with problem solving and analytical skills.
•    Total 9+ years of experience in new product development and VA/VE activity for Energy market applications.
•    Experience of Agile product development process will be added advantage.
•    Experience in design for manufacturing (DFM), design for cost (DFC), design for manufacturing (DFM).
•    Experience in design tools such as 3D Computer Aided Design (CAD) modeling, Geometric Dimension & Tolerancing (GD&T), tolerance stack up analysis & Pugh Matrix.
•    Experience on with product design of connector products used in high-voltage power networks, mainly in utility sector (essential)
•    Good understanding on product development methodology.
•    Experience in mechanical simulation (FEA) tools will be a plus.
•    Knowledge in various manufacturing processes such as molding, machining, sheet metal forging, etc
•    Knowledge in product design of plastic/rubber/machine components.
•    Experience in SAP product data management environment
•    Knowledge in quality tools (DFMEA, 6sigma, DoE, 8D, etc) will be a plus.
•    Basic knowledge in metrology measurements.
•    Awareness on ANSI, UL, IEEE, IEC connector specifications an advantage


•    Proven ability to execute on engineering deliverables.
•    Strong customer service mindset and mentality of delivering quality products and services on time and within company cost and profitability objectives.
•    Fluent communication skills facilitating collaboration with own team, customers, internal business leaders and technology leaders to create value.
•    Individual must be self-motivated and require minimum supervision, have strong planning skills and be able to deal with and balance multiple competing priorities
