BU / FUNCTION DESCRIPTION
DDN(Digital Data Networks) engineering team is responsible for development of innovative power interconnection solution products which are used in the hyperscale computer, AI, Datacenter, Cloud server, and other IT system, including connector and cable assembly.
Roles and Responsibilities:
The Sr. Product Development Engineer will work on the product sustenance activities, NPI, Product extensions, value analysis and value engineering initiatives within TE’s DDN business, delivering cost optimization and increased customer value. you will work within a global sustaining engineering team responsible for the continued support and evolution of production parts and products throughout their lifecycle. This includes driving product lifecycle management, product extensions, rapid NPIs, VAVE initiatives, sustainability improvements, material and process changes, and manufacturing location transfers. The role also involves providing technical support to plants, suppliers, and customers to ensure continuity, quality, and cost optimization.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Proven expertise in sustaining engineering and product lifecycle support, including design enhancements, prototyping, testing, and cost/productivity improvements (VAVE).
• Understanding of product lifecycle management (PLM) and new product development (NPD) processes.
• Hands-on experience with modern design and analysis tools including 3D CAD, modeling, Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T), and simulation tools.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as machining, molding, stamping, and plating.
• Knowledge of material properties (metal/plastics) and their application in products.
• Familiarity with quality tools and methodologies such as FMEA, Six Sigma, DOE, 8D, etc.
• Work on VAVE initiatives to optimize cost, improve product performance, and enhance customer value while maintaining quality and reliability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and technology centers to identify, assess, and implement value-driven design and process improvements.
• Develop and deploy tools and methods to analyze cost, performance, manufacturability, and sustainability throughout the product lifecycle.
• Knowledge of NPD and sustain activates
• Provide technical support for cost-reduction activities, including design validation, troubleshooting, and verification of VAVE solutions.
• Collaborate globally with manufacturing, procurement, and suppliers to ensure compliance with TE’s technical, quality, cost, and delivery objectives.
• Introduce breakthrough engineering solutions that leverage new technologies and supplier capabilities to accelerate business growth.
Mandate Skills:
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from premier institution. Master’s degree is preferred.
• Deep understanding of product, design, materials (metals/plastics properties), processes and manufacturing science/technology.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as machining, molding, stamping, and plating is advantageous.
• Familiarity with material standards and agency approvals for connectors, cables, and cable assemblies.
CRITICAL EXPERIENCE
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in Product Development, Sustain Engg, R&D and VAVE engineering.
• Background in connector design, Cable assemblies (Power/Industrial/Auto connectors) is a plus.
• Ability to work independently in a highly technical environment.
• Expertise in Design for Cost (DFC), Design for Manufacturing (DFM), and Design for Sustainability (DFS).
