Job Overview

Sr. R&D Product Development Engineering is responsible to develop for new products and product  ownership of complex sub system product line.

Leads small and medium sized projects and develops product families.

KEY RESPONSBILTIES:

  • Lead end to end Product Development and Product Design initiatives from Voice of Customer (VOC) through product end of life, ensuring alignment with business and customer objectives. 
    •    Serve as technical owner for complex NPI and sustaining programs, driving design strategy, execution rigor, and engineering excellence. 
    •    Translate customer, market, and system level requirements into robust product concepts, detailed specifications, and production ready designs. 
    •    Own product design release including 3D CAD models, drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation. 
    •    Maintain a system level understanding of customer applications, high speed connector and cable assembly architectures, and usage within server and storage data communication systems. 
    •    Define test procedures based on requirements and/or customers or internal l/external specifications, assess results and provide conclusions
    •    Ensure product manufacturability - Define dimensions, tolerances & special characteristics based on customer requirements, intended application, best practices and experience
    •    Apply six sigma, reliability, and quality methodologies across design, development, validation, and launch to ensure high product performance and robustness.e.g.DFMEA/RCA
    •    Act as key technical interface to customers, Sales, PM, SA/FAE, and Operations, ensuring accurate VOC capture, clear requirements, and strong technical proposals. 
    •    Lead design reviews, feasibility studies, tolerance analysis, and mechanical/thermal simulations to mitigate technical risk early in development. 
    •    Responsible for VA/VE execution and opportunity identification
    •    Collaborate with global manufacturing, procurement, suppliers, and technology centers to meet technical, quality, cost, and delivery objectives. 
    •    Provide advanced technical support and troubleshooting for customers, plant teams, and global operations, including testing, failure analysis, and corrective validation. 
    •    Introduce breakthrough engineering solutions and new technologies in partnership with customers and TE global competency centers to accelerate revenue growth. 
    •    Leverage expertise in Molding/Stamping/plating technologies and contact physics to strengthen product differentiation. 
    •    Contribute as a technical leader and mentor, supporting continuous improvement initiatives and strengthening organizational engineering capability

DESIRED SKILLS:

•    B.E / B. Tech in Mechanical Engineering; Master's degree is a plus.
•    Min 8 years of experience with high volume mfg. environment (Plastic components mfg. experience is a plus)
•    Working knowledge of CAD software (Creo or similar)
•    Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma Methodology and tools, such as DFSS, FTA, graphical analysis, hypothesis testing etc.
•    Knowledge on connectors products or applications will be advantage. 
•    Knowledge of Global Certifications and Regulatory Standards (UL, IEC, MIL etc.); Familiarity with IATF/ATEX etc

Generally requires Bachelors degree in appropriate field with a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible professional level experience; Masters degree or higher or local equivalent may be preferred at this level
