Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams conceive original ideas for new products, introduce them into practice. They are responsible for product development, and qualification from market definition through production and release; assist in the qualification of suppliers for new products to ensure suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services for new or improved manufacturing processes; conduct feasibility studies, testing on new and modified designs; direct and support detailed design, testing, prototype fabrication and manufacturing ramp. The R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams provide all required product documentation including, but not limited to, Solid Model, 2D/3D production drawings, product specifications, and testing requirements. They create and modify detailed drawings and drafting or conceptual models from layouts, rough sketches or notes and contribute to design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operation or quality of product. Typical fields of expertise include: materials, mechanics and systems, electrical, optics, chemistry, software, automation systems, packaging, testing and measurement, and manufacturing of electrical, mechanical and electronic components, products, and their integration into systems.

Job Title:   PRODUCT ENGINEER II – Industrial   


Location:    Bangalore, India 

  
Position Overview:
The Industrial / Electrical Segment within the Industrial Solutions Business Unit of TE Connectivity has a full-time opportunity for the position of a Product Engineer.  This will be supporting the Identification product line portfolio.
   

The Product Engineer will be primarily responsible for:
•    Testing of label printing and associated software packages.
•    New Product Development testing and Sustain Engineering of associated hardware electronics (product configuration, primarily desktop printers and printing inks/ribbons).  
•    Terminal and Splices Crimping Technology
•    Specialist Application Tooling
•    Sustain Engineering support for Cable Identification consumable products
•    Technical expertise to support Field Support, Product Specialists and Customers when needed.

 

The desired candidate will possess and apply knowledge of Product Engineering principles, practices and procedures.  The role will involve working in multi-functional global teams in matrix organization with regular and frequent communication with global colleagues.
 

Responsibilities:

•    Design and development of products to meet performance specification and fitness for purpose.  Encompassing printing and material requirements.
•    Represent Engineering on multi-functional project teams consisting of Sales, Product Management, Project Management, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain and Outside Suppliers.
•    Work on Product Optimization and Cost Improvement to reduce cost and improve product competitiveness.
•    Evaluate manufacturing deviation requests and make decisions on deviation acceptance.
•    Create and manage all supporting technical documentation; including drawings, specifications, inspection plans, reports etc
•    Create requirement/ design specification and test plan documents
•    Coordinate with test laboratories on product validation and qualification testing.
•    Facilitate Agency Approval activities with Product Approvals personnel.
•    Evaluate and implement material changes.
•    Use of TE’s Engineering Change control procedures and other internal Engineering systems.
•    Support Configuration Management requirements.
•    Engage with suppliers, customers and sales on product applications, technical queries, quality concerns etc.

 

Key Qualifications, Experience and Knowledge: 

 

Key Qualifications, Experience and Knowledge: 

•    University Engineering degree or equivalent in Electronics / Instrumentation or similar discipline is a required. 
•    Demonstrated experience in New Product Development and Engineering assignments; at least 6 years’ experience in product quality assurance is must
•    Experience in product compliance testing’s internal and external agency co-ordination.
•    Knowledge of CE, ROHS, REACH, WEEE compliance advantageous
•    Experienced user of Engineering tools such as DFMEA, Tolerance analysis, etc.
•    Experience in PDM system or product life cycle management tools such as Enovia/DM TEC etc
•    Knowledge of basic Quality standards and processes, understanding of UL and other Regulatory Standards preferable.
•    Experienced in printing and testing of label and polymeric materials highly advantageous.
