Job Overview
TE Connectivity’s R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams conceive original ideas for new products, introduce them into practice. They are responsible for product development, and qualification from market definition through production and release; assist in the qualification of suppliers for new products to ensure suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services for new or improved manufacturing processes; conduct feasibility studies, testing on new and modified designs; direct and support detailed design, testing, prototype fabrication and manufacturing ramp. The R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams provide all required product documentation including, but not limited to, Solid Model, 2D/3D production drawings, product specifications, and testing requirements. They create and modify detailed drawings and drafting or conceptual models from layouts, rough sketches or notes and contribute to design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operation or quality of product. Typical fields of expertise include: materials, mechanics and systems, electrical, optics, chemistry, software, automation systems, packaging, testing and measurement, and manufacturing of electrical, mechanical and electronic components, products, and their integration into systems.
What your background should look like:

The Engineer will be responsible for the Design and Development of Relays, Contactors, Power distribution unit & other Electro mechanical product for TE connectivity.

The Development Engineer will work with Global team and Local team to develop Products by translating a Customer requirement into a Product requirement, work through the Development cycle including Testing, Approval and Release into Production.

Responsibilities & Qualifications:

•    Responsible for the Design and Development of Relays, Contactors and other Electro-Mechanical Products.
•    Understand Mechanical & Electrical requirements of a product and ensure that the design meets the functional requirement.
•    Strong Mechanical, Electrical fundamentals & Design consideration for Electro Mechanical product Developments.
•    Proper Material selection during product design which meets the functional/environmental requirement of the Electrical Product/ system.
•    Consideration of all aspects of the product functional requirement during Design like Magnetic material behavior, AC/DC current behavior, Environmental condition, Structural requirement, Contact Physics, Protection of Contacts (by Plating), Plastic part quality, Tool requirements for Sheet-metal and Molded parts.
•    DFM & DFA consideration during design of the component & subsystem.
•    Self Drive for result & complete the project within Project schedule.
•    Interpretation of Magnetic, Structural and Thermal analysis data and should be able to translate these results into Design.
•    Meet (as required) / Communicate well with Customers and understand their needs to ensure project wins.
•    Produce detailed Engineering Drawings as per drawing standard and Specifications.
•    Tolerance consideration for ease of manufacturing & assembly fitment with lower cost.
•    Analyzing test & qualification report of the new product and make necessary change in the design for performance improvement.
•    Root causing the failure & making the required changes to meet functional requirement

Critical Skills and Qualifications

•    Should be having an experience of Electro mechanical product design using New Product Development Cycle process with product qualification experience.
•    Experience in design of Electrical system architecture(Power Distribution Unit).
•    Hands on Experience in testing & validation of PDU will be added advantage.
•    Should be flexible to work in Shifts to manage the global programs.
•    Good Knowledge in Creo software, Autocad,PDM windchill & PLM software.
•    Good Knowledge of manufacturing processes like Molding, Stamping, Plating and other Metal Forming processes.
•    Good Knowledge of Tolerance Stack-up Analysis, FMEA and Design related calculations.
•    Knowledge of Product Development Cycle and Processes.
•    Proven Ability to transform Voice of Customer into Technical Specifications.
•    Capable of Handling Multiple Projects simultaneously.
•    Good Conceptual, problem solving and Analytical Skills.
•    Should be Self-Motivated, Adaptive, Passionate about results and a Good Team Player.
•    Strong Technical Aptitude with Willingness to learn new Technologies quickly.
•    Demonstrated Experience of working in a fast paced and changing environment with the ability to work to tight deadlines.
•    Experience in Product Design involving Plastic and Sheet Metal parts.
•    Knowledge of six sigma tools will be an added advantage.
•    Experience & knowledge in structural analysis, mold flow analysis, magnetic analysis will be added advantage. 
•    Knowledge of Global Certifications and Regulatory Standards (UL, IEC, MIL etc) will be an added advantage.
•    Willingness to Travel as required and at short notice.
Qualification & Experience:
•    B.E./B.Tech. in Mechanical, Production or Industrial Engineering with good Analytical and Conceptual Skills.
•    About 6 to 8 years’ experience in PDU, Switch gear, panel design in Aerospace, Automotive or Industrial domain Industries.
