Job Overview
TE Connectivity’s Quality and Reliability Engineering Teams analyze the ability of product and production systems to comply with customer and contractual requirements through established reliability factors. They design, recommend revisions and install quality control systems, develop and document analytical methods for establishing reliability of products and their components and conduct analysis on relative reliability with regards to cost, structure, weight, maintainability, facility of production, and availability of materials and equipment. Out teams develop, implement and monitor company environmental safety programs and policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health and safety regulations and recommend corrective actions if necessary. They are responsible for policies and practices to comply with applicable government regulations and industry requirements related to product environmental compliance, the implementation and management of technical and testing standards and specifications, quality control and reliability programs governing materials, product and processes, resulting in the optimization of material and labor, as well as failure analysis, root cause, corrective action and customer communication.
Job Description
TE Connectivity is setting up a new state of the art world class at Bangalore, India to support Aerospace, Defense and Marine (ADM) business unit. As part of the team, incumbent Manager will be responsible to lead and manage operations and a team of engineers and technicians associated with testing Electrical, Electronic and Electromechanical products that TE offers under ADM Business Unit.
As a member of our Aerospace, Defense, and Marine (AD&M) Test Lab the Test Engineer will review assigned test programs and recommend testing strategies to ensure TE products meet customer performance and reliability needs, perform electrical and mechanical testing on TE products, and write detailed test procedures and reports to support the test lab and its customers, following good engineering practices and ensuring the integrity of the business is maintained by following all applicable policies and procedures. The position will report to the Manager, Test Engineering, for the Aerospace, Defense and Marine business unit.
Responsibilities
• Understand product performance quality and reliability requirements for electromechanical components
• Determine documentation requirements and develop standard procedures for product quality and reliability evaluation for the products
• Establishing quality management system for test lab operations and accreditation including AS9100D, ISO 17025 and Defense Agencies
• Develop procedures, standards and templates required for deploying quality management systems
• Assess and integrate safety management system requirements through out the process
• Collaborate with internal and external teams to ensure safety and quality management systems are deployed with no deviations
• Conduct internal audits and ensure observations are closed on a timely manner
• Drive continuous improvement opportunities to enhance quality and reliability of test methodologies inline to new product and market requirements
• Facilitate external safety & quality management system audits and ensure compliance with no non conformities
• Develop and modify detailed test procedures and test reports as needed to support the test lab and its customers in performing testing.
• Recommend testing protocols to address specific customer needs for quality and reliability
• Collaborate with other lab engineers on interdisciplinary teams to plan and conduct complex test programs
• Collaborate with other lab engineers on interdisciplinary teams to design and prepare test systems for unusual tests.
• Work with test system engineers to determine strategies to meet present and future test requirements for quality
• Review active test programs and final test results to ensure that performance and reliability requirements are met.
• Maintain the integrity of reports by complying with corporate, business unit and local quality system requirements.
• Ensure all safety requirements are met.
• Ensure good engineering practices are followed.
• Capable of understanding drawings, diagrams, and schematics.
• Must be capable of multitasking and taking full ownership of assigned projects.
• Participate and/or lead employee continuous improvement teams as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Skill Set and Profile
• Demonstrated experience in the relevant field of electro mechanical components industry
• Proven ability to manage safety and quality management systems for test laboratories
• Experience in leading safety and quality management systems for testing complex products
• Mandatory requirement to establish procedures, lead and drive compliance audits for AS9100D, ISO 17025
• Experience working for Defense Agencies requirements is added advantage
• Exposure to manufacturing environment to align quality managements systems is desirable
• Fluent written and verbal communication is most desirable considering the role requirements to work with global teams and agencies
• Global exposure to understand and communicate on quality management systems is preferred
• Experience in electrical & mechanical design consideration for electrical and electromechanical product development in aerospace / defense / marine domain.
• Hands on experience to document and deploy quality management systems i.e. AS9100D etc.
• Capable of Handling Multiple requirements simultaneously.
• Good Conceptual, problem solving and Analytical Skills.
• Should be Self-Motivated, Adaptive, Passionate about results and a Good Team Player
• Strong Interpersonal & stake holder management skill
• Strong Technical Aptitude with willingness to explore & learn new technologies
• Demonstrated Experience of working in a fast paced and changing environment with tight deadlines
• Knowledge of Global Certifications and Regulatory Standards (UL, IEC, MIL etc.) is an advantage
• Willingness to Travel for project requirements as required
Qualification and Experience
• B.E./B.Tech. in Electrical / Electronics / Instrumentation Engineering
• 12+ years of hands experience in Test Instrumentation in test labs.
• Aerospace Lab experience is an added advantage.
• Experience with Product Testing in line to MIL specifications is desired.
